Taking the wheels off to swap head gaskets?

OK... I'm confused...

Today my car was supposed to be done around 6pm (it wasn't) Because I had to work I got q-ball to stop by the shop and see how my car was doing. He told me that the car (which is in to have the head gaskets swapped on my 3.4L DOHC) was on jacks with the hood up and the front wheels off it. Not sure if he saw both wheels off, as he only left a msg on my voicemail and has now gone to bed (panzy)...

If its only the passenger side wheel off I could see them needing to do this to get a better handle on the timing belt...

Anyone else have ANY idea why the wheels would be off? one or both...

Thanx

Yeah it was just the passener side wheel so they could have better access to the belts. I stopped by the shop today and watched them set up the timing, when I left he had the rest of the engine left to assemble, I SHOULD be able to pick it up tomorrow bright and early, but I've said that a few times this week...

because removing the coolant overflow is so difficult? Seems like overkill to get to the belt. Oh well.

Its not as easy as just removinig the coolant overflow. getting the crank pulley off and putting it back on you need to have the wheel off.
