lothos
I'm looking for someone to help with a tranny fluid change in the next couple weeks. I've got the fluid already, need to pick up the filter/gasket still. I'd like some help because I haven't done it before, closes I've done is oil. I don't have a torque wrench for tightening the bolts, and I don't have a place to dispose of the fluid. If someone can help me out, please let me know! also looking for help with brakes, see my message in the brakes/suspension section. BTW, I've got a gallon of tranny fluid, plus two additional 1-quart bottles. Is that enough fluid? I'm just looking to do a fluid change, not a flush, so all the fluid won't be changed, is that correct? Thanks!
Crazy K
Not sure of any members in your area at all dude, and I recommend avoiding starting multiple threads on the same topic. however, I think that is enough fluid. Do you have tools or even the know how to do anything car related? you can always ask for step by step help if needed. if in doubt, buy a haynes manual, it will cover the basic stuff. There's actually quite a few members around here. Sorry for the multiple topics, I figured I should ask about the brakes in the suspension section, and the tranny in the powertrain section. Yes, I have tools and have done repairs to my car before. Oil changes, spark plugs and wires, fuel filter, and other little stuff like PCV and coil packs and such. I've replace more alternators than I care to remember, but that's about it. I have a chilton's manual, it's been a big help! I'm still a newbie tho, and am a little hesitent to try a tranny fluid change on my own, let alone trying to attempt something like the brakes. I also don't have a torque wrench, and can't justify buying one just to tighten my tranny bolts once. I also don't have a way to dispose of the fluid, and was wondering if someone could help me out with that.

Turbo231
where is that write up on this, its a life saver... Like the one I wrote? http://members.aol.com/regal231/xmission.htm And don't worry about torque values that much...just make sure it's tight, but don't dig out a breaker-bar...just enough to make a good connection between the pan and the gasket/transmission. Psych0matt
His write up is good, maybe a little too much detail! that should explain it though. take off pan and drain, replace filter, put pan back on and refill. that's the absolute basic explenation
lothos
Thanks for the replies, the write up looks like it'll help a lot.
