joey b
How are you supposed to turn in the rear caliper piston? I sat there with the wierd block and a rachet for about 30 minutes and it barely moved. The piston turned easily but did not retract. Any special technique? mfewtrail
Push inwards on the piston while turning and it should retract.
Brian P
Sometimes you really need to push in on it. I think one time I used a C-clamp on the piston first just to "get it started" then I turned it in with the spanner tool. Lisle makes a tool that turns the piston as well as pushes down. It resembles a brake pad with a rod in the center.
Crazy K
autozone rents a tool that is a combo press and turner. I have not tried it on the 93- model, but you might check it out.
Hairdo12
I open the bleeder valve, that way you are not fighting the line pressure (I never had to bleed the brakes after either). Left rear turn counter clockwise and right rear turn clockwise all while pushing inward as hard as you can. I also give the rubber boot on the piston a spray of wd40 so it doesnt twist while turning the piston.
