The Burning Rom Posted August 9, 2006 Report Posted August 9, 2006 Does anyone know the approximate weight of a 3100 block with crankshaft, rods, and pistons? I'm guessing it's somewhere around 275lbs, but I thought maybe someone here would know...or have a better guess. TIA for any info! Quote
Robby1870 Posted August 10, 2006 Report Posted August 10, 2006 I woulda said 250lbs so I bet you're close. Quote
Brian P Posted August 10, 2006 Report Posted August 10, 2006 yeah same here. The block alone is what...130ish? Add in that crank, etc...I can see it. Quote

The Burning Rom Posted August 10, 2006 Author Report Posted August 10, 2006 Two people will lift it with ease. Well it doesn't take two people. I've picked it up by myself already But I'm looking to ship it freight, and they need a guesstimate on weight. I did some research, and I think my 275 is a little heavy. Block = 106 lbs (I know this one is correct) Crankshaft = 50 lbs (I know this one is correct) Rods = 8 lbs (I know this one is correct) Camshaft = 5 lbs (Just a guess) Pistons = 8 lbs (Just a guess) Front Cover = 8 Lbs (Just a guess) Dampener = 8 lbs (Just a guess) Water Pump, Pan, Misc = 7 lbs About 200lbs total. Brian P Posted August 11, 2006 Report Posted August 11, 2006 I would average it as 225 lb, the cam weighs a little more than 5 lbs, then the timing sprockets, chain are additional, 12 lifters (if included), the windage tray, flywheel (if shipping that) etc Quote
