Loose shifter handle

Don't know whether this is a commom problem or not, but the shifter handle on my GP has come loose, you can turn it about 45 degrees or so, is there any way to tighten them up as its becoming a pain and feels like its going to come loose all the way soon.

you didn't say what year your grand prix was but the 94-96 gp's have a clip that will insert into the shiter. It's located on the side of the shifter closest to the radio. You may be missing the clip as I was. I just grabbed one from the scrapyard and you just insert it into the shifter. It looks like a big plastic staple. Hope that helps

Its a 92, but yes there is a slot in the handle facing the radio, I'll give it a go.

94-96 gp's have a clip that will insert into the shifter.

All FWD GM's shift knobs interchange, and they all have the same clip to retain them...

I believe it is a metal clip thoguh....not that is really matters..at least it's metal in my Lumina
