fargo_182
I had this leak for a while int he rad, and just got it fixed today, and now the waterpumps leaking I believe. The coolant is pouringgggg out right beside the front passenger tire. Is there any other lines around there it could come from or is it safe to say the pumps my issue? It leaks real bad after its been running and gets hot and I turn it off. break out another hundo, for the w-body fund.
THe_DeTAiL3R
Waterpumps aren't expensive.. IIRC I think I paid $50 for a rebuilt or new. If it's leaking alot, then I'd say it most likely is the waterpump. Easy to change.
PCGUY112887
Does it look like coolant is comming out of the waterpump anywhere? Can you see wetness/stains on the plastic dirt guard that is like in front of the front tire and between the engine bay and the ground? Like wetness right below the bottom of the belt... How about under your hood? When mine was leaking, coolant would get on the belt and splash against the bottomside of the hood, making a stain in the cardboardish heat shield up there. Hairdo12
Could be the metal line that runs to the heater core. Since I have no clue what car you have, if its a 3.1 follow the pipe that comes out the top of the water pump to where it runs along the side of the engine bay. $5 dollars in hose should be all it takes. I used 3/4 inch heater hose, but others like 5/8... I just clamped it extra tight and have had no problems. Also, check your block plugs and make sure they are tight. Is the belt wet? fargo_182
replaced the water pump and it is still leaking beside the tire.I will check these block plugs and this line should be on top? Are you saying I can replace the whole line pretty easily? I have the get the pos e-tested by the 14th which sucks and I work everyday so I'm freakin out. The cars a 93 Z34 3.4, should there be block plugs near there. anywhere else it could come from? If it was the heater core it would dump it into the passenger floor inside right? fargo_182
hey turbo I used your tutorial to fix my water pump, the write up was great, thank you. The pipe for the heater core, should I be able to see it on top or from underneath the car?
Nick1234
2 things. This pipe runs down from right where the water pump pulley is, down along the frame right across from the harmonic balancer. then up on the firewall over to the drivers side. Now if that isn't leaking, it could also be the timing chain cover. coolant runs through that. Nick
