GOT2B GM
...nobody has parts listings for the TGP here in Canada. Are the CV shafts TGP specific? If not, what other vehicle uses the same axle so they can order it? I was thinking a 90 Grand Prix 3.1 w. ABS, 4 spd auto, pass. side. OR a 91 Grand Prix GTP w. ABS, 4 spd auto, pass. side. Will either of these be an exact replacement for what I have now? Thanks
Guest TurboSedan
i don't think there is anything special about the TGP axles.
GOT2B GM
I got some from NAPA for a 90 GP 3.1 auto, abs and they work fine. The ones I initially bought from Canadian Tire were for a 92+ 4T60E which are shorter shafts.
dbtk2
Its a '90 GP, 3.1, 4 speed, with ABS. Externally a 440t4 is a 440t4, the axles are all the same.
kuntzie
matt what happenned??? and just on a side note... if he was going to replace the driver side, are they different.....like the passenger side one is between 1988-1990, an like the 1992 ones?? GOT2B GM
The inner boot tore open, and I didn't notice till it was too late and the bearings got shit in them. As a result, I had a really bad vibration while turning and accelerating at the same time, but its all fixed now. The pass side axle is the same between 89-91, because 88 didn't have ABS. 92+ is shorter for some reason.
Crazy K
92+ ??? well the axles for the electronic trans cars are different that those with the 4t60/440t4 before you factor in the whether they are ABS or not... 91-93 all and +94 Lumina axles for the 4t60E (includes the 3.4 and all) so 88-92 i believe are the same. but check before you buy also, I think the abs axle will fit in place of the non-abs axle actually... 5speedz34
I thought TGP axles where hardened and stronger?!
GutlessSupreme
I thought TGP axles where hardened and stronger?! We've no proof. Besides kuntzie breaking numerous axles besides of his ride height, I don't think anyone's broken axles besides that, due to power issues or anything. I wouldn't worry about it.
