pete95cutty
I was driving home last night and after driving on the interstate for ~20 minutes, I get off at my exit, and once I stop, the cutlass dies when it reaches idle. It started back up, but continued to do this for the next 5 min that it took me to get home. Today, I attempted to drive it, and it continued to do this, but got worse, because now it will not start at all. When it was running, it only would stall when I took my foot off the gas. If you guys have any ideas, please reply
Brian P
There's a chance it's a fuel related problem. Can you check the fuel pressure?
jdcutty
I would say that a fuel pump is going out on ya, or the filter is bad.
pete95cutty
Got a filter today, but found that it won't come off. I guess I will have to splice in a new end for the line. I replaced the fuel pump last year at this time, and the filter. Could the filter be plugged already? The old filter that was on it before was on there for about 3 years. I don't have access to a pressure regulator.
Crazy K
when my pump went bad on my 91 it did the same thing. it would stall at stop lights after long drives. The biggest thing that contributes to fuel pump failure is running the tank empty... which I did way to often on the 91 Lumina. I actually ran out of gas twice... once from stupidity and once becasue there was no open station for 100miles. I ran out of gas 1 mile from the only open station in the back country. yes, call me stupid. if you continuously run your tank at near empty that will kill a fuel pump. 1990lumina
I run my car on empty all the time...I've only ran out twice once (but it started again and limped it to the station)...guess I should fill it before it runs low....though I have aother things to resolve before I fill the gas tank again lol good luck fixing ur car!
