marcusa
I don't have a lot of W-body knowledge, so i figured I'd run this by you guys first. Does MMO work well w/no problems on the 3800 series II? Anyone have any experience? Suggestions? The folks on SaturnFans rant day and night about it and rightfully so, I added it to my oil on the Satty and within 200 miles it had 120,000 miles of gunk loose in it ready to come out at the oil change. Also fixed an occasional tap. My Intrigue is running fine but a little precaution goes a long way...
bigshynepo
I've used this on my '69 lincoln, never on fuel injected system so I'm not sure how well it works with our w's... Its a must have for antiques though!
19Cutlass94
Ive heard its great stuff if your dealing with a locked engine and soforth.
mfewtrail
If you've performed regular oil changes, you wouldn't have any "gunk" for it to loosen up nor any need to run ANY type of additive.
cutlsp
what exactly do this oil do?
bigshynepo
Its a mystery.
cutlsp
ok does it help with worn valve seals and things? or what i mean my suburban has some oil blow by i plan on rebuilding it a few months. I don't want to repair the heads there isn't really a point to do that. So i guess what i'm asking is does it stop that?
1990lumina
doesn't that "RESTORE" stuff in the silver can do that type of thing James??
digitaloutsider
If there's nothing wrong with it, don't fix it. Simple as that. A modern 60/90 degree V6 motor should never need any kind of oil additive unless it has some sort of pre-existing condition.
cutlsp
doesn't that "RESTORE" stuff in the silver can do that type of thing James?? I have no idea if it works but as I said I'm asking about it for my SUBURBAN. The cutlass doesn't have oil leaks except for that stupid o-ring that always is a problem on the w-bodies. I'm more afraid that that restore junk will clog up my suburban's oil passages killing my engine. I guess I can just keep driving it until i'm ready to pull the motor out and rebuild it since its running fine now since I just did a tune up on it. marcusa
Sorry, been real busy these past few days. There's nothing wrong with the engine. On the Saturn which was running just fin at 127,000 miles and always got oil change, DELCO filter, Techron, and a lot of love after 200 miles of driving with MMO the oil change was full on gunk. Now I mean dirty. It really loosened up everything that accumulated over the years/miles. I had my trusted mechanic do the oil change so he could look at the oil and tell me what he thought and he said it definitely worked. Was considering the same thing for the Olds, but wanted some input beforehand, since what's good for one car can be bad for another. By the way, never use engine restore, not only is it a waste of money but it will do more harm then good in the long run. It's like Bars Heat...erm...Leak
bigshynepo
Cutlsp, I will go get my bottle when I can and type out the back. I seem to remember my mechanic pouring some down my carb... Its a penetrating oil, it unsticks lifters and prevents corrosion, just all round good stuff. I don't have any experience using it in newer cars tho... There old Ad says "Use in crankcase, gas tank, or top cylinder oiler… the ideal cure for hydraulic valve trouble."
ron350
I put a cup full of MMO in my fuel tank every few months to help oil the fuel pump.
Calvin
This stuff is over 80% kerosene, with a bit of goodies mixed in. Not really anything too special. As was said, you shouldn't need it and saturn fans are, well, special sometimes.
