Difference between H.D. and Std. Suspension? 96' Lumina

Ok guys, I have strut assemblies off of a 96' Lumina. I was just looking at the KYB website, and they have 2 different front strut mounts, for Standard or H.D. suspension. I have no idea how to tell the difference, and the car I got them from is long gone so no RPO codes.... The strut mounts appear to be the only part that has 2 versions.... the strut bearings, and lower spring seats are the same H.D. or Std. I do not see a part number anywhere for upper spring seats, so I do not know if they are different.

Does anyone know the differences between H.D. and Std. Suspension on the Gen 1.5 W's? Can I just buy the H.D. Mounts and use them with my upper spring seats? Again, mine may even be H.D. already....

They were from a junk yard car, I have no info about them. I think the car had a 3400 in it? They are the larger brake disc strut assemblies....

I dont think the lumina came with a 3400. If they are larger it probably had a 3.4 DOHC in it. In that case, I believe it would have the H.D. suspension.

Well, in 96 all the luminas and montes came with the bigger rotors regardless of engine size... its the same strut/knuckle assembly, the caliper bracket is just mounted further out to accomodate the larger rotors. They are a direct bolt on upgrade. I will have to find out what the difference is, perhaps the dealership can tell me.

@TurboSedan: what kind of W was this for that you bought the H.D. mounts? If they worked for you I will try them as well.

@Everyone: anyone ever see upper spring seats for sale new? I haven't seen any anywhere, and I looked pretty good...

i bought KYB HD strut mounts for a '96 Cutlass Supreme from tirerack.com. my strut/knuckle assemblies are from a rather plain jane '96 Cutlass Supreme sedan that was in the j/y (had a 3100; it was probably FE1 suspension). these strut/knuckle assemblies went into my '90 Grand Prix STE Turbo (big front brake upgrade). i haven't actually been able to drive the car yet but they fit perfect.

as for the upper spring seats - try checking rockauto.com if you haven't already. they have alot of stuff available i haven't seen anywhere else.

EDIT...

here are some pics of the HD KYB strut mount:

i'm really not sure what makes it "HD" or how it's any different than the regular KYB strut mount.
