Rapidfires feel good in there, idles hella better, and i'll see if the mpg improves at all big thanks to my dad!!!!! for practically laying on the car trying to get the back ones off/on with me!!! i look like an emo now, my arms are all cut up

RJansen658
Good, cool that its running better. LOL did you have to pull the engine to get to the back 3 plugs? Or unbolt the lower engine mounts and jack it up LOL. Lets have another discussion about how to get out the back three plugs....
cutlsp
you could have just removed the alternator then you wouldn't have to rock the engine forward......
19Cutlass94
Or he could just put a new motor in with fresh plugs in it.
Euro
meh...we just took off the dogbones, put the bolt thru the 3rd hole in the dogbone and the engine mount.. that helped enough. it wasnt a big hassle at all really...
digitaloutsider
you could have just removed the alternator then you wouldn't have to rock the engine forward...... Which is a far bigger pain in the ass if that third bolt is still in there. Rocking the engine is the best solution TO A VERY SIMPLE PROBLEM. Robby1870
I usually rock the engine forward AND pull the alternator to do the rear plugs. I have big hands and arms, plus I dont like cutting my arms up if I can avoid it.
SigEpCutlass
I hated doing the rear plugs too. I'm hoping I never have to do it again. It was still really tight even when rotating the engine forward with the ratchet strap. I did most of it by touch, because I couldn't see half of the time. I think part of the problem was the ratchet strap wasn't able to roate the engine as far forward as I had hoped it would. The gear wasn't strong enough. slick
LOL, I never had to remove anything or rock the engine forward when I did the plugs on my 3100. Small arms when doing plugs on FWD GM's FTW!
patgizz
heh. 3.1 plugs/wires is a 10 minute job. i did the 98 voyager yesterday, took 2 hours. no room for my big arms, no dogbones to take off to rock the motor, and the alternator eventually had to come off anyway. terryk2003
after reading this thread...i'm not sure if the people with the 3100's realize that a 3.1 is ALOT harder to do plugs on than a 3100...a 3100 is really easy to do plugs on IMO, and noo need to rock the engine or take anything off...a 3.1 is a PITA, but not to bad if u rock the engine forward... fastbird232
Yeah! Another "changing rear plugs" thread! Just remember: no matter how you did it, there's always a guy on here who has a faster, easier way. And you're an idiot for doing it your way. Took me almost 4 hours because I couldn't see enough of the back of the engine. I was sorta proud that I did it all by touch though, and it was the first time.
