AWeb80
Drove 250 miles round trip.....a little intown driving, but most of the Interstate driving I did was at 85 the whole time. 29 MPG Avg speed was 68 MPH This info was striaght off the DIC....so how accurate is that? ns87
I hope not that accurate. That makes me feel like crap
Brian P
I bet if you did the math manually you'd be around 26-27mpg. The DIC is usually too optimistic.

cutlsp
next time fill up your tank and measure it that way......
THe_DeTAiL3R
Whenever I fill up I reset the DIC as well as the "analog" trip odo... I find the DIC in my car to be relatively accurate, but sometimes the amount of "fuel used" on the DIC is actually lower than what I put in the car. So either 1. the computer is not accurate, 2. Fuel is escaping (unlikely.. new gastank and filler neck), 3. The gas stations are ripping me off. I find that higher than 75-80mph and my mileage starts to go down. I get best mileage 50-60mph (like 35mpg+). At 85 I think my car would be a little lower than 29mpg. I do need to do a few things to my car that would help economy I'm sure (tires, struts). I drive mostly city so I don't care right now.
AWeb80
at 90 my DIC read 32-33 mpg and at 80 it read 29-30 mpg......WTF? o, and i've got 1/2 a tank left...so i should be able to smoke 400 this tank if i keep my foot out of it.... Fuel Fuel Tank Capacity: 17.1 gal. EPA Mileage Estimates: (City/Highway) Automatic: : 19 mpg / 28 mpg Range in Miles: (City/Highway) Automatic: 324.9 mi. / 478.8 mi. Theoretically yes, but it's gonna have to be light-highway driving (not speeding, not much passing). I average 10L/100km with mostly highway, the tank holds 65L (or so they say), so around 600km should be possible (save 50km to get to the gas station. 600km=360miles, respectively. I've never gotten much more than 500km on a tank, cause I simply do alot more city driving.
AWeb80
17.1 gallons....everywhere i've read my GP has 16.1 gallon tank.....and i've been on FUMES before and put in 15.9 or something like that......nowhere close to 17.
THe_DeTAiL3R
I'd like to figure out exactly when the fuel light comes on, and how much gas exactly it will take based on that. I just know that the "range" will blink "lo fuel" (gas light is not on however) around 55L (14.5gallons). That's what I actually put in the tank, not based on the DIC. 94CutlassSLCoupe
The gas tank has always been rated at 16.5 gallons from what i've ever seen
GP1138
The gas tank has always been rated at 16.5 gallons from what i've ever seen 16.5 is the only figure I've ever seen listed.
cutlassdude96
my owners manual say 17.
mfewtrail
My '90 & '93 list the "16.5" gallons figure.
Brian P
I think the inside of the tank changed around '95, I believe the plastic baffle was either modified or just not used, and that might have increased the fuel capacity. However, with my gage below E a few times, I never put in more than 15.5, so I can't imagine having 1.6 gallons still in there. I should check my owners manual too
STE1991GrandPrix
Mine was never very accurate (to my knowledge, the odomiter rarely worked), I took a trip to Idaho (931) miles and with a 3.1 4T60 completly stock it said I got 37.5 miles to the gallon that would be 24.82 gallons, the reciepts for the trip showed 31.64 gallons so the actual mpg was 29.42. I know that Utah screwed up the reading though, I went to the current mpg button thingy, and it would go from 13-99 and sometimes over to 00 after reading 99 (yes the car was still in gear and at 2800 RPMs) Hope that helps, Eric
