5speedz34
Yeah, I'm curious about the DBW. And I would like to thank GM for making things bolt up to older models. I love there engineers sometimes.

19Cutlass94
I feel like getting an old Z24 Cavalier 2.8 and putting on newer top end.. lol 2.8 5spd, drop in 3400 with 3500 plenum, and various other parts and theres a nice car! Does anyone know anything about the 3900? I havent really seen any posts/thread anywhere about it
Brian P
Yeah, I'm curious about the DBW. And I would like to thank GM for making things bolt up to older models. I love there engineers sometimes. One Aluminum adapter from 60degreeV6 store, and you can use either a factory, or TCE 65mm Throttle body. At least their engineers can make changes for the better without having to change everything. Must save GM tons of $, and we all know how they want the cheapest possible way every time. cutlsp
i wonder if the 3900 intakes flow better then the 3500......
THe_DeTAiL3R
The 2007 model SV6 3900 minivans don't really feel faster than the 05-06 3500 ones That's just from some city driving, not like I've got a chance to take it out on the highway and bag it... Also! The new 2007 G6 w/ 3500 is now rated (on the window sticker) at 224hp (or some odd number close to that) vs 200hp of last year. Wonder what changed? Did the old 3500 have VVT?
Brian P
that 224HP 3500 is a smaller-displacement version of the 3900 (yes with VVT too) Vs the OTHER 3500 that is very close to the 3100/3400 and no VVT.
THe_DeTAiL3R
So is it different heads, same block? Or all new engine? According to something I read, the base engine will now be the 3.5VVT, with the 3900 (optional?) in the GT, and the slightly beefed up 3.6DOHC in the GTP. Brian P
it's all new, just like the 3900. http://media.gm.com/us/powertrain/en/product_services/whats%20new/06%20car%20eng/06%20_PWT_3.5%20%20V-6%20%28LZ4LZE%29.pdf (PDF file)
GP1138
This is all well and good, but where can I get a 3500 plenum? I'll do it!
DiscoStudd
So the non-VVT 3500 plenum bolts up to the 3400's LIM without modification? Is there a change in the EGR between the 2?
Brian P
So the non-VVT 3500 plenum bolts up to the 3400's LIM without modification? Is there a change in the EGR between the 2? there is modification, but not too hard for anyone mechanically inclined: the MAP sensor is different, but functions the same. It uses the new MAP sensor that sits directly on the plenum. Either get the correct sensor, harness plug and wire it in, or enlarge and tap the hole, and install a vacuum port for the old one. The old sensor's bracket cannot be used however. Use the previously mentioned TB bracket. The "neck" of the plenum needs to be shaved a little in order to clear the fuel pressure regulator. There is no vacuum port for the 4T60E's modulator, however there is an unused hole next to the EGR port, normally for the drive-by-wire setup. It's already exactly 1/4" NPT, all you'll have to do is tap it, install a hose barb (vacuum port) and run a rubber hose from that, to the transmission vacuum tube. The EGR uses the '00+ linear style, bolts right up. Some models you MAY need to tap a vacuum port for the HVAC line. Oh, and you'll need new manifold bolts, M8x60mm. I got mine thru http://www.gmotors.com also partsdirect has it. I don't have the part # handy.
