89GP_SE
I think im just having shitty luck because these last two weeks I have been under that car so much. First : Alternator went (bearings shot right out of the alt.) Which caused my belt to wear a bit I think. Second : Belt started to shred and took out the carpet shit on the hood ( I took it off is it gonna hurt anything.. I didnt think but your opinions will help) Third: Noticed a tranny leak. Fixed with tranny stop leak. Fourth: While taking off the drain plug during my recent oil change... I tasted something sweet... I looked up and found the coolant leaking. I have tried rad stop leak (Bars Leak) but nothing . I am just starting to wonder where its coming from cause I now am lost. *Crosses fingers and hopes its not a water pump* Oh and this was within the last two weeks. Before all of that crap I have to replace a ball joint on the passenger side, and found out I also have a bad CV Joint. Current Problems with the car: Power steering leak, its little but noticeable as soon as you open the hood. Mystery Coolant Leak, still looking for source. Bad Passenger CV Joint Cant lock drivers side door right now because it wont unlock. The rod moves to unlock it but it still stays locked (Really Fucking Annoying). Rattling Exhaust (Doest need to be fixed but hey its annoying and it only happens on acceleration.) Gauge cluster needs to be replaced. Supreme Cutlass
Next time try to FIX a tranny leak (or any leak) first before putting in that stop leak gunk. None of these repairs are super difficult, but Fix the power steering leak pretty soon, that would be top on my list and is probably why your belt got shredded. Crazy K
all the things you mention are relatively superficial. Junk such a car for simple reasons... and I will flame you!!! Baby steps.... fix it one thing at a time and don't let it frustrate you. ask for help if you need it. as for the fiberglass hood liner... it protects the hood from the heat of the engine... basically your hood will be alot hotter, but not so hot as to cause paint damage. Personally I like mine in place
89GP_SE
Oh well dont get me wrong I wont be getting rid of it, well unless of course someone wants to buy it for more than what I paid for it, its just that I am getting tired of always fixing this damn car. I know that all of these things are relatively easy, its just that I am lazy. I love this car, its such a fun sharp car. I mean comeon, look at my avatar, is that not a sharp looking front fascia. For some people a newer low-mileage car might be in their interest... I just hate hearing people complain about simple repairs because they own an old car. Definatly don't scrap it, that's wasteful and stupid... you could sell it though.

I usually beat them with a tire iron. j/k of course.
1990lumina
I thought that hood liner is supposed to melt and smother an under hood fire?? My RX-7 doesn't have any protection for the hood...and I can assure you the heat coming off that is double what a typical Wb-dy throws....my paint looks fine...I wouldn't worry about it

C-BAD - I didnt mean for it to sound like I was complaining, I really didnt, I really do love this car, it is super reliable. The only thing im really complaining about is how lazy I am, and broke too LOL. I am pretty handy and I know what I am doing when I am working on the car, its just that I am lazy and get discouraged when I dont have any tools and I have to borrow the neighbors so I can fix my car. The fortuneate thing is that I work as a janitor inside my apartment building, so I dont have to worry about driving there, so if something does happen it can wait till another day for me to get my hands on it. Overall I really do love this car, the look is amazing, and it really is reliable, I got pretty lucky, I have almost had this car for a year and it didnt give me any problems until last week. Hey its a used W-Body, it has character!
