Which one is the idler pully? How hard is it to put the belt back on?

Kyle

as hard as it is to get off. not hard at all. the idler pulley is between the alternator and ac i believe

Do i have to remove the right front wheel to get to it?

 no, removing the strut brace would probably help, but i think thats about it to be able to get to it. maybe the washer bottle, but thats not hard either

You mean coolant overflow?

D'oh. yeah, it's late and im tired. although you could take the washer bottle off too...

i had a squealing that was like that, it turned out it was just a worn serpentine belt.

give that a try, it's preventative maintainance...

I went to show the noise to one of my friends today and when i started the car, the noise went away and it hasn't come back.

I guess that noise was the alternator taking a shit. This moring i was going to work and my battery light came on so i shut the radio, XM, and my lights, off and drove it to the local shop who did my 93Zs alternator, they will have it done by tomarrow.

That sound you hear is the beautiful sound of the bearings within the alternator saying "bye bye"

That or the water pump. Both my cars made that noise as the water pump was going out..

Sorry to hear its the Alt. I have heard the DOHC's are a nightmare on that one. As bad as the N* motors..

That must hurt to pay that much. You shoulda done it yourself. I have a nice 45 minute write-up in the FAQ section.

I would have loved to have done it. The problem is that my father, who owns the car, doesnt trust any1 but a mechanic to work on the car. He doesn't even know that i put the chip in. He didn't know about the intake untill 3 months after i got it. He would shit a brick if he saw me and my friend doing something like that. Hell, my right rear disc has grooves edged into it, he wont let us have it resurfaced because he is afraid that we will fuck something up. I am only 17 and this is my senior year in HS. I hope for graduation that he actaully "gives" me the entire car, in that i could do whatever i wanted with it.

That sucks that ur dad is that way, but if he is that way then he better be paying the cost of labour for replacing the alternator, cause if you could have done that yourself then there would be no cost of labour, and u would have saved some money.

I didn't deny it. I agreed with you.
