z284pwr Posted July 19, 2006 Report Posted July 19, 2006 I'm curious to see what people would change on their car/engine while pulling it out... 1. Engine had ALL BRAND NEW sensors put in when the engine went in 2. The engine now only has ~8,000 miles since it was put in. 3. No the engine is not blown up, its perfectly healthy and runs good. This is what we are currently during with the TGP, I want to see what people suggest changing, modifying, or fixing... Quote
5speedz34 Posted July 19, 2006 Report Posted July 19, 2006 Well, aside from getting it rebuilt? I'm assuming all gaskets and stuff like that get replaced right? Well, I would probably replace most of the typical W body problems, ICM, Coils stuff like that. Quote
slick Posted July 19, 2006 Report Posted July 19, 2006 How are all of your mounts? Any steering problems, leaks, etc...? Have you undercoated/por-15 the subframe yet? Quote
Brian P Posted July 19, 2006 Report Posted July 19, 2006 valve cover gaskets since the rear will be easy to get to when the engine is out... Motor mounts, any leaking hoses like p/s, coolant bypass, tranny cooler lines, etc. Quote
Crazy K Posted July 19, 2006 Report Posted July 19, 2006 absolutly nothing! but only as long as the crank sensor is new, and that the oil pump drive seak is new too. as well as the valve cover gaskets. Quote
z34_nut Posted July 19, 2006 Report Posted July 19, 2006 Definatly just about everything, so that way there are no doubts when you put the engine back into the car. Quote

I did as much as I could think of when the engine was out (except trans mount, was new the year before i think). Both lower mounts, LIM gaskets as well as UIM gaskets, I got a new starter cuz I needed it, oil sensor, Changed my plugs while I could reach them, new timing belt tensioner (that broke a month later), and other stuff like that Quote
1990lumina Posted July 19, 2006 Report Posted July 19, 2006 clean up the engine bay a bit too if you feel the need...much easier to clean with the engine removed lol Quote
