97loudcut Posted July 12, 2006 Report Posted July 12, 2006 Well right now on the car I have a Magnaflow hi-flow cat running to a glasspack and then to a Summit turbo muffler. At first I didn't like the sound but now it is getting better. My question is that it was suggested to me to take the muffler off and it will sound better. It was also suggested to just take the glasspack off. What do you guys think with a 3100. Also what the hell is this popping and crackaling sound when I shut my car off or the car is runnning. Is that the glasspack breaking in? Quote
slick Posted July 12, 2006 Report Posted July 12, 2006 Most likely the glasspack. What kind of sound are you wanting? I like the sound of Magnaflow mufflers myself. And, uh oh, dare I say the Flowmasters actually sound good on these cars. Obviously they are not the flow masters, but they do sound decent. If you want a loud car, get rid of the glasspack. If you want it quieter, more rumbly, keep the glasspack. Quote
SnowDrift Posted July 12, 2006 Report Posted July 12, 2006 I'm trying to imagine what this sounds like with the glass pack then going into a muffler. Since glasspacks on a v-6 sound like a large bumblebee, i was wondering if the muffler helped it any. SnowDrift Quote
jeremy Posted July 12, 2006 Report Posted July 12, 2006 do you have a sound clip of how it currently sounds? Quote
Euro Posted July 12, 2006 Report Posted July 12, 2006 didnt you get rid of the flowmaster because it was TOO loud??? wtf are you trying to accomplish lol Quote
cutlsp Posted July 13, 2006 Report Posted July 13, 2006 get a resonator then........ a glass pack restricts flow until it gets older.... Quote
19Cutlass94 Posted July 13, 2006 Report Posted July 13, 2006 get a resonator then........ a glass pack restricts flow until it gets older.... x2 on the resonator. If you get one it will quiet it down to the point where if you put a muffler on it, youll get a nice tone but it wont be so damn loud. Quote
