kcac Posted July 11, 2006 Report Posted July 11, 2006 The driver's headrest on my 1995 Cutlass keeps slipping down to the lowest setting. Any ideas on how it can be repaired? Quote
Cam'ron Posted July 11, 2006 Report Posted July 11, 2006 just put some duct tape around the post on it... aside from tearing the whole thing apart, i am sure there is just something loose internally but some tape around it will stop it from sliding down Quote
kcac Posted July 13, 2006 Author Report Posted July 13, 2006 Thanks - I'd rather repair it than tape it. I'll have to check out the inside of the seat when I get time. I was hoping there was a simple external fix. Quote
1990lumina Posted July 13, 2006 Report Posted July 13, 2006 Does the '95 have the notches built into the two rods that come out of the seat?? Or is it the gay style like my Lumina that is all smooth?? I don't use the headrests in my Lumina because, 1 - they don't come up far enough to be efficive anyway, and 2 - when I pull them up they fall back down to bottom lol....christ Lumina seats suck Quote
CSI_MuNkY Posted July 13, 2006 Report Posted July 13, 2006 My head rests fall down fairly easy too, but my car came with some plastic tubing (that black ribbed stuff you normally see in the engine bay) around each post. Dunno if that came in the car originally or not, but it doesn't look half bad... I'll try to get a pic later, I'm at school right now Jamie Quote
Brian P Posted July 13, 2006 Report Posted July 13, 2006 that wouldn't be a bad idea. Use wire loom around the posts, maybe wrap that in electrical tape on the ends to keep it from falling off... Quote
kcac Posted July 14, 2006 Author Report Posted July 14, 2006 The head rest supports rods on my 95 cutlass are smooth. It's probably not worth the effort it would take to fix, but I'll look into it anyway at some point just to learn what exactly is involved in fixing the problem. Quote
Brian P Posted July 14, 2006 Report Posted July 14, 2006 Maybe try coating the rods with hairspray, then raise and lower the headrest a few times. I know it sounds nuts, but I've done this to stop old shitty house windows from falling down from the "up" position. Quote
CSI_MuNkY Posted July 18, 2006 Report Posted July 18, 2006 Sorry about taking a while.... heres that pic I promised of the wire looms holding my head rests up Jamie Quote
kcac Posted July 19, 2006 Author Report Posted July 19, 2006 Thanks - that actually looks pretty good. Quote
