EviLette
Wasn't bad at all. I feel like an idiot.... lol... The vaccuum line running from the shift module to the air intake was missing.... replaced it... service engine light is gone, gas mileage has increased, and the car idles smoothly and shifts properly. I'm so happy. I think I mentioned this previously, but it was on another topic.... as a side note. Just for the record... I guess the lack of valence didn't overheat my tranny and cause it to blow out? lol

Good that you got it figured out though, at least it was simple.
RareGMFan
I had the same thing happen on one of my 6000's. Long story on what led up to it, but I got the car back from a different repair from a mechanic, and noticed it wasn't shifting into second. I tried to baby it home because, due to some events that transpired just prior to this, I didn't trust that mechanic to touch it anymore. On the way home, I took it up to 44 MPH, where it suddenly shifted into second, which is normally where it shifts if you're flooring it (I wasn't flooring it). Sure enough, I found the TV cable just dangling there becuase the piece of plastic that holds it on to the throttle body had cracked. Reattached, and problem solved. THe_DeTAiL3R
Yeah I can see how taht would cause it not to shift.. lol When we had our 85 T-bird it had a vaccum leak and would not want to shift into 2nd, but it would when you do it manually... anyways we fixed the leak and it was fine.
