Supreme Cutlass
My steering overall feels very loose (numb would be a better word), and my steering wheel is slightly off. This is the first chance I've had to actually do anything about it, any ideas?
Q-Ball
Im in the same position. Mine feels soft after replacing my rear calipers. I think I may need to re bleed the brakes. As for the steering, I do need an alignment. But first I need to replace my outer tie rods. Might want to go through my list too. Hope it helps. Crazy K
Thats part of the reason that I scraped the Lumina. I think the rack adjustment nut may have needed tightening... But it looked funny and smelled like my shoe. lol iirc, you must tighten the nut all the way, and then back up 1/4 turn. and it has a lock nut too. I would have had to drop the rear of the subframe to accomplish it i believe. otherwise a large wrench of unknown size would have been needed. 19Cutlass94
Could be maybe a tie rod end or ball joint. If your steering wheel is off, usually youll need an alignment.
Supreme Cutlass
I don't get what the steering gear is and how you adjust it. Can you explain that for me?
Crazy K
I should call it the rack. there is a adjustment nut that sticks out the rear, near where the steering shaft enters the rack. You can see it by crawling on the ground beneath the car and looking up. I would inspect your balljoints, tierods, wheelbearings... anything on the suspension that may be worn out. this shows a typical rack: http://www.popularmechanics.com/automotive/sub_care_sat/1272476.html
Pabz
My car has felt this way since i got it. Its the inner tie rod ends, or the adjustment nut.
marcusa
Get an alignment, that fixes it 99/100 times. I can't believe the difference it made on both my Intrigue and my gf's Saturn.
