MonteCarloMan
I dont own it yet, but I am getting my dad's 04 Monte LS. It has the factory head unit with AM/FM CD. Id like to upgrade it in the future to aftermarket head unit and speakers. For now i am gonna leave it alone, as for a factory sound system, it sounds pretty damn good . I got a good deal on a Sirrus in car set up, do I need any extra parts to install it into the oem sound system. I heard that 00-up impala/montes needed a special adapter if you wanted to install a aftermarket headunit in place of the stock setup as the things like door chimes and stuff are keyed into the sound system? PS, what are the speaker sizes in the car, it only has 4, i thought it had more but it doesnt.

DiscoStudd
Assuming you have the RDS radio, you'd need this aux adapter: http://www.installer.com/item/display_item.php?it=pxgm24 Here's the "master" list: http://www.installer.com/aux/index.html You will indeed need a "module" if you install an aftermarket Headunit. The Metra GMRC-01 to be exact: http://www.installer.com/item/display_item.php?it=gmrc-01 The GMRC-01 serves as the interconnect between your aftermarket HU and the factory harness, in addition to supplying the chime function and providing a switched 12v+ source (the factory wire harness does not provide this.) If you go the GMRC-01 route, be sure you have all of your "convenience" settings where you want them (they are set through the stock headunit) because you won't be able to change them after you install the aftermarket HU. You will, however, still be able to reset the "Change Engine Oil" warning by switching the ignition on and depressing the throttle to the floor 3 times... MonteCarloMan
it DOES have the RDS headunit am/fm/cd. I already found that i run 6.5 and 6x9s wich I have a set of both from my last car a dodge stratus. I replaced the craptacular OEM speakers with some NICE pioneers.
