roadhead Posted June 29, 2006 Report Posted June 29, 2006 Hello all, i am new to the tread and new to the world of GM's. My car is a 89 cutlass ciera with 240k, 3.3. The codes that came up were 26, 27,28,29, and 34 I have been searching for about a week now and still have some questions. i have been to the page of trouble codes for my car and am left pondering. I know 34 is the MAF, is it worth getting a whole new assembly from auto parts store, or just the sensor from the boneyard what i am stumped on is the gear switches Where are they? how do i diagnose them. Also what is a good way to begin looking for the problem with the elusive quad-driver Quote
Pontiac6KSTEAWD Posted June 29, 2006 Report Posted June 29, 2006 I dont have the answer for you on your code issues. However, I would like to recomend a couple sites that are geared for you car. you have a A-Body by the way, unless you meant cutlass supreme, But since you have a 3.3, and they didnt come in the Supreme, I think you have a Ciera. Anyways the sites are... http://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/rarefwdgmabody/ and http://www.a-body.net Quote
Supreme Cutlass Posted June 29, 2006 Report Posted June 29, 2006 Sorry, but a ciera isn't a w-body Gear switches are inside the transmission beat me to it.. Quote

Crazy K Posted June 29, 2006 Report Posted June 29, 2006 gear switch??? that probably because your transmssion front plug has been disconnected, because the lock up of the torque converter is sticking when it should release. disconnecting the plug prevents the tcc (torque converter clutch) from operating, it is a cheap fix for an expensive problem. you can run forever with the plug disconnected, btw. get a Front wheel drive (thats to say 1988 and newer cutlass supreme , Regal, Lumina, monte carlo or a grand prix and then come back and join us. i wish you luck wih your issue.
