intern8tion9l
ok so i posted this problem before, but its gotten way out of hand and i'm running into dead ends left and right. my problem is that my car recently decided that it wants to idle around 2000rpm, sometimes up to 3000. when i first start the car, it revs up a little high, but then kicks down to normal. as soon as i apply any amount of pressure to the gas pedal, it immediately idles up to about 1700 and never comes back down. rev it up more and the idle goes up to like 2500. i've been through the damn thing all over for vaccuum leaks, changed the MAP sensor, and changed the IAC. my luck it'll end up being the ECU, but i was really hoping someone might have some answers. thanks.... patgizz
have you checked for a sticky throttle cable, shaft on the TB, something in there? my cousin's kia had a similar problem and she had a pine needle stuck to the throttle plate. 95oldsVan
Bad TPS switch and/or sticking TB blades, cable or linkage can cause extreme idles that wont drop down.Is your gas pedal easy to press or does it feel hard? Any ses codes?
intern8tion9l
tps reads ok on the scanner, checked for stickiness as well. the gas pedal is just as easy to push as ever. and the only code that gets thrown every now and then for just a min or 2 is no vehicle speed sensor...which makes no sense to me
intern8tion9l
fixed!! turned out to be the ecu....still acts a little funny sometimes, but i'm convinced it'll never be completely right
