I need a new engine and I'm not sure what setup I want to run. It's on my 01 GTP. The car has about 85k right now. Motor is toast, but the trans is good.

I found a eng/trans/acc/wiring/cradle setup from an 04+ GTP nearby with low mileage, I think less than 20k. I think I want to buy it to drop in. Aluminum cradle, and newer gen 5 supercharger.

I have 1.9 rockers that will go on the new motor no matter what. I also have a turbo kit here. So if you were in my shoes, and bought the 04+ motor combo, what would you do?

1. Run the entire gen 5 setup from cradle to SC with the neccessary mods, and sell the turbo kit. Use the extra money for more mods.

2. Install just the bottom end and keep the turbo setup. Sell the gen 5 and cradle and tranny.

3. Install the new motor, tranny, and cradle, but slap the turbo kit on that.

4. Something different, and why.

Gen 5's are going for around $800 used and cradles about $300. I think really what I want to know, is it worth it to change the entire cradle setup when all I need is a motor. If I do that I gain the newer tranny, and save about 30lbs with the cradle. Cons are the $$ for the cradle and the time spent installing it.

So, :dunno:

I'm torn man. Those are tough choices.

You could always sell the car and help fund the STE project  :willynilly:

I think I'd go with option three. It's not like plenty of other people aren't running their turbo kits reliably. Just make sure you have an oil pressure gauge this time around ;)

#3 should prove to have the most benefit I think. Yea, it's going to suck doing the cradle. However, I think you'll be the most pleased with that setup in the end.
