Mach 5
I have an 89 Pontiac Grand Prix SE auto w/ 95,000 miles. I just installed new gaskets throughout the engine and cleaned any sludge buildup in the engine. Im now having a problem with the car not wanting to restart when warm. Even when cold it sometimes won't start. It'll crank though. It will even stall sometimes. Now I have checked fuel pressure and spark and it all checks out. The spark better cuz I just put new Bosch wires and AC Delco plugs in. I then checked the fuel injectors resistance. The lowest one was 5.8 ohms and the highest one was 12ohms. The second highest was 10.1ohms. These injectors have already been cleaned by Pontiac once. So my question is, do I buy brand new OEM ones or high flow ones from ACCEL? What is the difference between the 17lb ones and the 22lb ones? Which one is better? +Your help is greatly appreciated+
89GP_SE
the 22lb ones are for more punishment, they are often used in turbo grand prixs
SigEpCutlass
I think atleast one of your fuel injectors are on their way out. I believe they should be 12.5ohms. Well, I know that's what my 3100 needs, as I just has one replaced. I'm not sure about the LH0, but I'm sure it's above 10ohms. The one that has less than 6ohms is about to die. Check the fuel injector connector for the low one. I had one that wasn't at the right resistance b/c the connector was loose after being reassembled. FYI, using Bosch stuff on our cars is never a good idea...
Mach 5
Why is Bosch bad? Well Im going to buy all six new ones. So you don't think 22lbs is good for a NA?
SleeperRed90TGp
Go to ebay and pick yourself up a set of what ever #'s you want. 1/4 the price. Have bought 7 or 8 sets, sometimes had to buy 8 but never had a problem with any of them. Jud
greekguy7
While you have the plenum off, I would replace ANY injector that is under 12ohms. No exceptions. I believe the spec is 12.1 When my car had similar issues, I picked up the injectors at the junkyard. I even took my meter with me to measure them there. These cars are known for injectors going out and I can tell that many of the cars at the junkyard had injectors worked on cause some were messing the injector clips, others had 3 orignial injectors and 3 aftermarket injectors in there, etc. etc Another option instead of the junkyard is: http://www.lindertech.com/reconinj.htm
SigEpCutlass
Why is Bosch bad? Well Im going to buy all six new ones. So you don't think 22lbs is good for a NA? Our cars eat Bosch stuff for breakfast. Simply put, they just don't last. The only thing that works well in our cars are Bosch wiper blades, and some would even debate that. IMHO, Bosch wiper blades should be the only Bosch product used on your car...
SigEpCutlass
To clarify: I meant Bosch products are not a good fit for W-body applications. Bosch stuff works well in other cars such as my sister's VW, my mom's Subaru, or my dad's Ford Taurus SHO. Just dont use them in our cars.
