Addicted2bass
I was wondering how rare the five spoke aluminum rims with the chrome shine finish are on GPs. I have a dark green 96 with these rims, Ive only seen them on two other GPs in my area, both of them were dark green as well, no one on here seems to have these either. Most of the GPs i see have the normal silver finsh 5 spokes or the lace wheels. Are these rare at all?
ToroToro
I dont see them very often at all. When I do, they are on dk green or white cars usually.

runt
Yes, I believe that they were a factory option, and do have a somewhat "rare" factor. Although this is a W body we are talking about so....

jeremy
to the Wheels section too
GnatGoSplat
I used to see them a lot on red and black cars too, and they used to not be rare at all. I'm theorizing they're more rare these days because most of those cars probably had 3.4 DOHC's, and most 3.4 DOHC cars have gone to salvage yards once their owners discovered the cost to pay a mechanic to replace the timing belt exceeded the value of the car. pwmin
i wish that was true, shawn, since i can never find and 94-96 b4u's in junk yards at least i havent found that

97loudcut
not as rare as the chrome/polished cutlass 5 spokes ive only seen 2 sets
GnatGoSplat
That's because the Cutlass ones aren't factory. My friend has a set that came on his 93 convertible. The caps are still silver painted so that tells me they were originally silver painted, stripped, and polished.
Addicted2bass
The rims kinda set my car apart from the other GPs in my area, im looking for a nice set of aftermarket rims, but these are nice for now. They are in good condition to, they were a little dirty when i got it but they cleaned up nicely. As far as most DOHCs goin to the junkyard, ive only seen 3 GTPs since I bought my car, and maybe 5 or 6 Z34s driving around, no one has DOHCs around me. Mine is a 3.1 btw. rjtiminskygtp
It's sad really...in the town where I reside, for 3.4 L W Bodies there's My car (91 Grand Prix GTP), a 1996 Grand Prix GTP which is Dark Green, beautiful car, A red 1992 Lumina Z34, a white 1993 Lumina Z34, and one I'd say 98 Monte Carlo Z34. That's it, and none in the j/y. They just dissappeared. Everything has, I remember when I was younger, like about 6, our neighbors had a Turbo STE, I have never seen that car anywhere since, and It's just sad. But the timing belt is a good factor. First thing I had to replace when I bought mine as it was time to, that and some little work and the inspection came to $946.
Addicted2bass
Last week at a local cruise night I saw a 95 GTP with about 30k on it!!! I talked to the guy for awhile, beautiful car, and losts of trick stuff done to it on the inside. A 10 out of 10 car imo. I was surprised that there was one in my area so nice. I have some pics ill post up when I get a chance.
