no1kicker
I'm in the process of replacing engines. The old engine is seized so I can't rotate it to get to the TC bolts. I've got the rockers and plugs out, and LIM off. I'm going to dump a bunch of PB blaster down to try and free up the bottom end. Also going to Sears to buy a large breaker bar. Any other suggestions? I heard that marvel mystery oil in the cylinders works good too.
herb427sc
Pull the oil pan. loosen the nuts on the connecting rods and the bolts for the main bearings. Then you should be able to rotate the assembly..
89GP_SE
you know back when stacy david used to be on trucks he had this happen with the .. i think hairy hauler project. He took out the spark plugs and sprayed wd40 in the holes and turned the fan back and forth to break it free.. now I dont know how you would go about doing that on our cars cuase you would have to find the crank and attach something to it to turn it back and forth while you sprayed the holes

Mach 5
I remember that epidsode. Wasn't that the trunk that I stuck the machine guns on? -You should spray WD 40 in the spark plug holes and leave them open. Then try using a breaker(maybe with a pipe on the end) and an impact gun socket(there stronger) and put that on the crank serpentine pulley thing. wiggle it and it should free up. I've done this on many cars in the past, works fine.
1990lumina
One of my neighbors poured diesel fuel into the cylinders of his Honda to free up the engine (it was seized too)....left it over night and it worked
Mach 5
Wouldn't that foul the cylinders?
patgizz
and an impact gun socket(there stronger) they are not stronger. they're softer with thicker walls so when they fail, they crack instead of explode and throw shrapnel. also it depends why it's seized. if there was rust in the cylinders causing the seize, yeah lubing the cylinders may help. or not. but if it's in the bottom end(bearing melted to crank, etc...) the only hope is to remove the bearing caps till you find the problem. i'd personally pull the motor w/ the tranny and then pop the trans off and get to the converter bolts that way so no wasting time trying to get the motor to turn. GutlessSupreme
Wouldn't that foul the cylinders? I think you're missing the main point here. The engine is seized. It's trash. Damn Greg, I thought you said you just popped a piston, not seized the damn thing
no1kicker
The motor is seized because of a break in the oil feed line, to the turbo... So I would think the bottom end would be melted together. I got the engine to turn a bit today after lots of tranny fluid and a breaker bar. Still won't move much at a time though, and still very tough. I'm letting it sit overnight with some more fluid and also a longer breaker bar. I have an 18" now. I also might just pull the motor and tranny together, but I don't want to. And yes, I'm replacing the motor anyways so I don't really care how much harm I cause, I just want the old one out! White93z34
in the past i've had success with pulling the plugs, and filling the cylenders with oil, but then again it was a rusty engine, not a melted one...

joey b
what about trying to rotate it in the opposite direction from which it lodged itself into the stuck position?
