RJansen658
Hey guys, just went to the yard a few days ago and took both strut assemblies off of a 96 lumina. Before I left the yard I took off the rotors and bearing assemblies because they charge extra for them and I'd rather replace them. I got the strut assemblies and the saliper brackets. I read in another post hat they might not have been the big brakes, but I don't have the rotors to check them. Anyone know of a way to ID them without the rotors? When I was at the yard I looked at a 92' Lumina, I didn't have a tape measure but put my socket rack across the rotor and did the same to the rotors that were on the 96' lumina and the 96' rotor was definetly about an inch bigger, maybe a little less. I am putting the struts on a 94' lumina.... were the 92' and 94' lumina rotors the same diamater? Because if so then I must have the right ones.... Guess I won't/can't rest if I don't know.... I'm thinking about going back to the junk yard, I know where I left the rotors I took off.

DiscoStudd
were the 92' and 94' lumina rotors the same diamater? Yes. The only model year you need to double check is 1995. The larger rotors were rolled out midway through the 95 MY, so all 94 and earlier models had the smaller rotors, 96 up had the larger ones... luminal67
so all 94 and earlier models had the smaller rotors, 96 up had the larger ones... My front brake upgrade was from a 1994 GP SE. 11.25" rotors
RJansen658
Alright, I know for a FACT that the rotors were bigger by about 3/4" than the one on a 92' thats all I needed to know. Phsically they look just like my current strut assemblies.... what did they change?

GutlessSupreme
Yes. The only model year you need to double check is 1995. I would double check on '96s as well, from past experience, but it sounds as if you got the right ones.
