Cost to rebuild 4T60e

When my 4t60 in my '88 went out, the trans shop charged me 895 for the total job a few years ago..... 595 was for rebuilding it, and the other 300 was for labor to remove and install it.

Call around and ask. Also ask if there is a warranty on it since you will be doing the labor of remove and replace.

I e-mailed ZZP for this question and asked for a rebuild so the tranny could withstand about 400-500hp they said about $3200.

I wouldnt trust any shops around here.

I'm visiting some family in Arkansas right now... I went to ask this shop how much it would be to get a rebuild on a 4t60E with a LSD and a 3.73 FDR. The man's response was that a 3.73FDR could not be put into my '93 Z34 tranny. Needless to say, I proceeded to shake my head, laugh, and walk away.... no way in HELL are they touchin my shit

If you look you should be able to find a good shop that will do a 4t60-e rebuild for ~$700 or so. That is just for the rebuild however. You should be able to pretty easily find a shop that will do it for $1k.

FWIW, if you do it yourself a rebuild kit is around $160. Unless you have experience with our trannies this probably isn't the best idea though.

hmm... seems like it'd knock off a considerable chunk if he removed/installed it himself though... perhaps someone more familiar with labor costs and what not could confirm this.

My tranny guy charges about 300 -400 for a pull out bench rebuild. When I had him do my minivan trans,in his shop,he charged me 850 for rebuild...parts were 300 or so and labor was 500.Warranty is 1 year parts and labor, and free towing up to 100 miles.I brought my van back with a TCC clutch problem,2 years passed the warranty and he fixed it for free.Got real lucky with this guy.

Trust me,their rebuild kits they get dont cost them muchyet You pay according to your location too.Big cities and towns with higher end charges, have to charge alot higher to pay the bills.
