joey b
from the FFP coilovers. I don't want to hear "I love em!" If so, cool. I have heard some people are not completely happy with the product, and since I will need to replace my monoleaf, I think I may just go to coilovers for the small cost more. I'm looking to hear what bothers the consumer with the product. Thank You.
AWeb80
Ok, I have them, I won't say I love them. I'm impressed w/ them and have had no problems in 20K hard driven miles.
PCGUY112887
And why woulden't you say you love them? (i've been considering them too but if there may be some problems I may just want to stick to a leaf).
GOT2B GM
Because joey didn't want to hear people saying that they "love" them......
cryptnix
uhh, depending on the spring rate you go with ... i like them due to the fact that I can dial how low i wanna go in the back ... i am waiting anxiously for the fronts ... so this good enough for you? they are worth the buy ... although the higher spring rate + the kyb's you're in for a bumpy ride but it is nice not feeling 150k+ suspension buckle when you go over some wavey roads ... although it does good for people w/ motion sickness problems sorry i invaded your thread with positives ... AWeb80
cryptnix, what spring rate do you have? I've got 250 and they are fine for me....stiff, but good.
cryptnix
250 as well ..
White93z34
my only experience with a car that had them was summed up in word: "squeeky"
badassoldspower
Ive had no problems with mine running a 250 spring rate
Guest TurboSedan
well i have TDC coilovers which are pretty much the same as FFP except i have a solid aluminum upper mount with no poly in it like the FFP coilovers do. what i don't like about coilovers: - the set screws in the adjuster nuts strip out very easily. i think pwmin said RedZMonte got around this problem by using two adjuster nuts on each sleeve and locking them together that way. i'd like to try that next time since you can get adjuster nuts separately through afcoracing.com - the spring can become completely unloaded and 'loose' when pulling into a steep driveway, and sometimes when doing a sharp U-turn. when the car comes back down and compresses the spring again, sometimes the coil doesn't go into the upper mount correctly and makes a "booooiinnnngg!" sound. no bid deal really. it rarely happens anyway. normal driving they are VERY quiet - no squeaking at all. that might be because i don't have the poly bushing in the upper mount though. otherwise i like them. my TDC coilovers are trashed now (my fault) and i'm going to go with FFP coilovers instead of a Birchmount or Flex-a-Form rear leaf. i like the ride quality with KYBs but i don't know what spring rate i have. they weren't bouncy until the KYBs wore out. i also really like that you can adjust the rear ride height to the front springs to make the car level. from what i've seen, cars with the FAF or Birchmount spring sit too high in back. i hate the raked look. Guest TurboSedan
oh yeah, i still believe that coilovers cause NO issues with structural integrity of the car's body. i realize the body wasn't designed to handle the cars weight on the strut tower, but i've had coilovers on the car for about 5 years now and 100,000+ miles of HARD driving (pizza delivery, lots of interstate trips, driving on shitty roads, LOTS of weight in the trunk etc). this was also with NO rear sway bar. there is no damage to my car whatsoever. i just pulled the strut mounts last week and everything looked perfect. joey b
Thanks, Josh. Exactly what I was looking for. If the finances are right I may buy a set since I will need to replace my monoleaf here shortly.

This is what worries me. I mean you get coilovers for performance suspension, then say your sliding your ass around a turn and the side pulling up decides to pop out? Or your goin to your grandmas house and all of a sudden your coilover spring pops out? I mean wtf what does that even do to the car and how do you fix it on the road? AWeb80
I've never had coil pop out....Look at my auto cross vid.....I was takin some hard turns there and no problems.....as far as i'm concerned a Rear strut bar fixes any chance of it...I cuts down on the body roll. I know the ADDCO bar definatly helps.....when I jack up the rear of the GP, I have to push down on the knuckle to make the spring unload cause the ADDCO bar keeps it stiff. z34_nut
My only guff is every now and again my coils sound "hollow" when I go over harsh bumps. Squeeks and noises during normal driving doesn't exsist, and are a great addition to KYB GR2's... Firm, but not harsh.
J
i have tried many things, many, and my coilovers are soooo loud it is annoying driving my car, ask anyone who has been around my car. besides that they do what they are supposed to do....
