Z34-5speed
This is a video of my Magnaflow catback. It has a Magnaflow Cat going to 2.5inch piping to a 12inch glasspack and from there to dual Magnaflow mufflers. The car smokes a little b/c it hadn't been running for a while. I dont know what the rattling sound is. Kyle http://videos.streetfire.net/video/c66217dd-f131-48ef-9721-f68d82dbbd61.htm Tell me what you think. Cam'ron
not to shabby... sounds a little hollow on the computer not a lot of beef to it but not rice~ish... prolly just the internet here is mine... much the same materials wise except no glasspacks http://s19.photobucket.com/albums/b163/nametnom/?action=view¤t=MVI_0094_1.flv this is still the stock cat and resonator
Z34-5speed
Really it isn't deep at all unless you are in the car. My old 93 Auto with Straight through magnaflows was a hell of a lot louder. I like it though, sounds good under heavy throttle. I really like the way yours sounds, 3.4 pushrod right? When i had my 93's exhaust done i just did the mufflers first. They were really loud then, but i went back and had another place put in 2.5inch pipe and an 18inch glasspack in. It really mellowed out the sound alot. If you changed the resonator out on yours i'm sure it would sound a little calmer. Kyle
Cam'ron
it sounds great as it is... i am done with exhaust mods for now the rumble you get driving it is awesome... drop it to 3 or even 2 from 50 KMh and it just burps and rumbles it is awesome... i have a vid of me on the highway and if you listen quickly you hear how she sounds at basically WOT but it is quick cause the guy filming punched his 3.4 DOHC just after i passed him which drowned out my exhaust but by then i was prolly out of his cameras audible pickup range http://s19.photobucket.com/albums/b163/nametnom/?action=view¤t=w-body030.flv
Dirty Rockstar
Sounds nice Kyle.. I like it.. I am lookin into Magnaflows for my car when the time comes.. However, I am lookin for a slightly deep rumble at idle from the outside.. Ill need to play around with different types of mufflers and Glass packs, cats, etc. to find that perfect sound.. I like yours though.. Sounds awesome!
Z34-5speed
Like i said before. If you want a deep tone, go with Straight through Magnaflows. They are extremely deep and don't sound like anything else on the road. I need to have someone either tail me or be in the car with me so u guys can hear it from inside. Cam'ron
thats what i have. they are straight through.. very low rumble at idle, nowhere near a v8 rumble and i will never compare them to a v8 but a friend of mine asked if i had a v8 after i got the exhaust done, told hm he was an idiot i really enjoy how this setup sounds
Dirty Rockstar
What model did you go with? When you say "Straight through" is that Catless? Or just with no Resonator/glass pack?
Z34-5speed
By straight through i meant, if you look at one end on the Muffler you can see through to the other. A 60* V6 will never sound like a V8. On my 93 i had the stock cat with 2.5inch pipe going to an 18inch Glasspack to dual "straight through stainless steel mufflers". I realize the Grey car's mufflers look extremely "ricey". That stupid rear supporting bar wouldnt let them sit any higher. Kyle [attachment deleted by admin] Removed to free up storage space. Z34-5speed
Here is a link to a muffler identical to the ones on my Grey Z. They sounded awesome, just looked like shit. cutlass1991
that sounds really similar to my dual flowmaster 40 series. I bet it sounds even better when the engine has a load on it. nice man.

cutlass1991
are flowmasters bad?
mfewtrail
are flowmasters bad? No. "Low" flow numbers mean absolutely jackshit when our engines don't flow nowhere near enough for a flowmaster to be a restriction. I can dig up a test from a Mustang with every muffler imagineable swapped onto it if you want to see the results. They gained 2-3hp at peak when going from Flowmasters to a open "Warlock" style muffler, and I believe around the same when switching from a flowmaster to a Dynomax ultraflow. This particular mustang made 350hp to the wheels, so we likely wouldn't see ANY gain from switching to different mufflers. The only cars here that might benefit a very small amount from muffler changes are those that are boosted. BTW, my dad's naturally aspirated 347ci stroker(in a 1992 Mustang GT) makes right around 475hp through two 2.5'' inletl/outlet 40series original flowmasters. I've seen people make considerably more than that, they're nowhere near as bad as people *think* they are.
per0781
http://www.performancetrucks.net/forums/showpost.php?p=3343047&postcount=36 Sure looks like the MagnaFlow flowed about 220 cfm MORE than the Flowmaster...

The point I was trying to make is that "flow" doesn't much if your motor cannot move that much air. I can dig up a Magazine article of about 20 different mufflers tested on a Mustang with ~350whp if you want to see it. They gained 2-3hp from Flowmasters to the higher flowing mufflers(a "Warlock" muffler tested the best I believe, the model that can be uncapped for straight-through flow). On our relatively low power W-bodies, you probably won't see any gain from mufflers alone...
