fleetwoodguy79 Posted April 26, 2003 Report Posted April 26, 2003 Well, my car doesn't shift into overdrive completely! At about 65mph i'm running about 2.5krpms, and my friend's car with the same motor runs just about under 2! Any suggestions anyone? Is my tranny crapping out? Quote
jimbud22 Posted April 26, 2003 Report Posted April 26, 2003 It sounds to me that your torq converter is not locking up in overdrive. Before my converter locks in overdrive my RPMs at 60 MPH is about 2500 RPM. When the converter locks I'm just over 2000 RPM. Quote
Robby1870 Posted April 27, 2003 Report Posted April 27, 2003 yeah your torque converter is not looking up. There is a plug on the tranny with about 5 wires running into it. Pull this plug and look at the prongs on it and make sure they arent broke or messed up. If they look good, I would say that the Torque Convter Clutch is not working, I think its a solenoid that controls it. So, take it to a dealer and have them check it out, unless you want to do it your self. But, first, if you havent changed your tranny fluid in a while, or its burnt, change it first then see what happens Robby Quote
fleetwoodguy79 Posted April 27, 2003 Author Report Posted April 27, 2003 Well I did a filter change about 3 months ago, but the fluid is still brown. Never has looked totally red. Is there any way that I can flush the rest of the fluid out? I know that the filter change only gets rid of half of the fluid or something like that... thanks guys! Quote
