91GPSTE
I am trying to figure out what is wrong with my motor but can't seem to put my finger on it. I haven't driven the GP for a while now because of this problem and now want to get it fixed. I am getting engine misfire quite often. I pulled spark plugs and all look good except one. It's the one in the back of the motor in the center. It has a whitish ash type powder on it. Also, sometimes when I go to start the car, the motor runs like shit like it's running on 5 cylinders. I thought I might have a leaking head gasket but why would it run like shit when I start the car? If there was a hairline crack in the gasket, wouldn't it run like shit after the motor warms up and expands? There is no coolant in the oil either. Now I am thinking it might be something else. Would bad plug wire cause this? How about bad coil? Any way to check these 2 things? Also, while back there, I noticed some oil from what looked like a valve cover. The MIL doesn't come on and I don't smell any unburned fuel. What could possibly be causing it?
19Cutlass94
Yes a bad plug would cause this. When I pulled my plugs it had that oil ash on it. Basically what that oil ash is from is either the rings are leaking, or the valve seals are leaking. All that oil ash is the unburned oil collecting on the plug. This will foul out a plug very quickly and cause a misfire.
