havikx
alright, it looks like i'm getting my spare tranny put in soon. but how much horsepower/tq can the 4t60-e's take? is it possible i'm pushing the limit with the tranny, hence, its scrap metal pile? i dont have anything major done to my car but i do have quite a few bolt-on mods. i can either A. modifty the spare to take more horesepower/tq, or B. 5speed it already! is it even possible to make the auto trannys take more horespower? i dont think i would just drop the spare in there and hope it work while i'm racing. i'm also hoping to get a 3inch downpipe and a ported and polished upper and lower plenium and i'm not sure how much horsepower that will add but i'm sure the tranny would take that much abuse. 19Cutlass94
Yes its possible to upgrade a 4T60-E to withstand more power. Just how much power is the question. You start getting into high number, custom made parts will be needed, but for the most part, heavy duty clutches, shafts etc etc. Ive heard a 4T60-E can withstand 230ft-lbs and 280ft-lbs. I dont know which one it is, but those are the two numbers Ive heard.
