1990lumina
I'm gonna go buy the rear struts to replace the ones on my Lumina. When I go to buy the struts (I'll be buying Monroe ones)...what all do I need to buy? Just the strut? Or the mounting stuff too?? Or will that all come with it? Thanks! DiscoStudd
In addition to the struts, you'll need to buy a set of upper strut mounts, and the protective boots. Depending on the type of boot, you may need to buy a set of jounce bumpers. Not sure about the Monroe boots, but I can tell you that the KYB boots have an integral jounce bumper that slots directly into the upper strut mount... Intlcutlass
Yes you need the mounts too, and some anti-seize compund for the big splined bolts at the bottom.

We're in Canada and I doubt your mounts are that bad, I haven’t had to replace mine. So all you need to do is go to Canadian crap and pick them up, wait for a 2 for 1 sale. Keep your receipt cause they have a lifetime grantee. I have pictures from when I did it, if you want PM me and i will give you my number in case you have questions while doing it. White93z34
i replaced mounts, bumper/boot and the strut itself when i did mine. no idea what brand boto i got, whatever the parts store gave me. just a word of warning i guess, my rear strut bolts were sized into the knuckle assembly like nothing else. i had to remove mine by removing the strut/knuckle as a unit and beating it out outside of the car. 1990lumina
http://www.solidstorage.net//files/14/new%20struts.jpg Now just to install them lol....that'll happen first week of July
1990lumina
I'm also gonna pick up some of those poly pads or whatever they are...from NAPA....then I'mm have the rear end like new hopefully....the front is still okay, and I'll probably unload the car before I replace those. Replacement of the rear struts DOESN'T require a special compresser because there's no spring on the strut right??? Thanks
