G.I. 39K mile 1989 TGP

I wont post this as for sale but rather guaging intrest as I don't have photos available at this time. If this is of intrest to you, email me at rick5638@aol.com and we can talk.

1st off, I don't want to hit 40k miles on the car. I want to sell it with 39K if I have serious intrest. Don't ask me why, I can't tell you other than 39K sounds better than 40k? The car is black with tan leather, sunroof. This car is very clean and garaged. I bought it from an owner who garaged it too. Jeff M. 160 chip and stat. K&N on the turbo, fresh irridium plugs, wires, intercooler fin mod. Tires are like new, brakes are good. picture a perfect TGP and I'll add the flaws here:

1) Stereo works but has a buzz in the background, I suspect a diode bad in the stereo. It crackles sometimes too.

2) This one makes me sick...the car has a dent on the passenger side rear fender. I had a damn post hole digger fall off the wall where it was hanging, and landed on the car. It's bad to me but I'm anal about my stuff anyway. The damage is approx. 3 1/3 inches long and approx. 3 inches wide.

3) 1 scratch on the driver side rear fender flare, one small ding on the driver side rear fender. It has some nicks in the front from road debris, nothing you can see without getting right on the car. Nothing you wouldn't expect a low mileage car to have either.

My thought was to repair the damage and re paint the car but I don't drive it much anymore and don't seem to look forward to it like I used to. Everything works, I have both sets of keys withk rke's fobs. owners manual etc. The car is quick and drives like new. I maintain it like a 39k mile car. Mobile 1 synthetic, 93 octane gas, wash and wax it regularly, windows are tinted and other than a Jeff M. special Mod, it's stock. Don't ask me what it is as I told him I wouldn't offer it out. It's nothing special and some of you may have it already. Anyway I'm not sure how badly I want to sell it so my sking price isn't set. Like the title says, I'm G.I. on this one. I'm going to want somewhere around 6k for it.

I will try to take pics this weekend.

Thanks

Rick

Sounds like a sweet car man!

You are more than welcome to post this on TGPforums.com if you would like.

This is the second low mileage TGP/TSTE that I kick myself in the ass that I do not have the liquid cash to pick them up!

Well, since I have seen TGPs for sale since back around 1994 when I sold my first new one for $14k (just under 40k miles too when I sold it  ) and knowing the books, $6k is a steal, very minor fender damage means nothing, and from the workmanship I have seen with paintless dent repair (dropped the ladder on my wife's CLK, bad crease and they made it gone!) this issue would not both me much. No radio ever works proper in these so just a hum in the back is nothing, there are a few that repair these rather well, but most would rather spend on a new aftermarket . Since 16 years with many miles and winter driving, chances of rust have effected so many of these cars, a clean body goes a very long way too, anyone that has seen the body (under carriage) getting chewed on has also seen parts in the engine bay going all nasty, so big value to a rust free car too. So I see this as a rare steal of a rare car, Black and Tan is my choice and has to have leather and sunroof so don't get much better, reds too loud but that's just me, fact though that once you put on the (GTS) shades to a black TGP, everyone WILL get out of the left lane when you are coming down the road, happens to me so often I start to feel like I should appologies to the other owners .

Best of luck, thanks for offering up such a nice car, wish I did not have 3 of these cars already.

Thanks to everyone for the nice comments on my TGP. I probably over exagerated the damage times 5. It looked terrible to me, but really it's only 2 small creases not an actual big dent. I really looked at it good when I pulled it out and drove it yesterday. I'll get pictures up as soon as I get a chance. I also appreciate the offer to post it for sale on the other TGP forum. Matt, I'm not really sure what I'll get. I may squirrel out and not sell it like I did to you the 1st time. LOL. I felt bad about that but eventually I knew it was going to a good home.

I had some fun with it yesterday though, I tangled with a Mercury Maurader

Thanks for the compliments. The pictures are kind of dark. I'll try later to get some better exterior shots. I'm not desperate to sell it. I would probably take $5800 cash bottom dollar. I advertised it on Craigslist.com for $6500. Heck I may keep it and do some exhaust work to it, maybe lower it a little and get some different wheels. I've never been a fan of those gold crosslace wheels but I know better than to get rid of them.

Anyway, thanks again for the nice words

I know this will sound funny to some but with the cooler weather, I'm feeling the urge to grive my TGP some. It's still under 40k miles but the temptation to just drive it is getting stronger as the temps drop. Does anyone want to make me a serious offer on this car?

I'm thinking of ebaying it, but not sure yet. I may keep it but it will never have 39k miles on the odo again, unless there's a 1 in front of the 39k  I also have a few more pics of the exterior.

Matt, You're probably right. I may keep it. It drives so nice, I'd be hard pressed to find something that's as quick and drives so nice for under 15k anyway. I must be getting bored, time to get out to the Strip

Find a 1/4 mile track this time! I'll probably run mine again when it cools off some more. I'm planning on taking a roadtrip down to Reynolds to run it at the Silver Dollar raceway since everyone seems to do a lot better there than at my local track(the Atlanta Dragway).

I'd trade you for an 04 GTP Comp G. That's what I've been seriously considering. Not to mention I'd have no guilt of driving it daily. $5,000 cash will buy my car.

Thanks for the compliments.
