89GP_SE
auto wreckers, or you could check out any auto parts store in town.
greekguy7
Yup... u can get them at almost any auto parts store for about $75 EACH. These guys seem pretty cheap also but I never bought from them: http://www.lindertech.com/reconinj.htm I just picked up a few at the junkyard myself a couple weeks ago. This place is real close to you and they got plenty of cars like ours. They are under $10 each there. I would just make sure I bring a meter with me and make sure they measure out to 12ohms before I get them. http://www.picknpull.com/ 7800 West 61st Pl. tdaye
I have a question about the injectors in my 3.1. 5 of the injectors read 15.7 to 15.9 ohms and one reads 12.3 ohms. Everywhere I read on the net tells me that injectors for my motor should read around 16 ohm and ""anything under 12.5 ohms and over 17.0 ohms is cause for a failed injector"" which is from "Experts Oldsmobile/Buick Repair" site but i see the odd message around here saying 12 is good. Am I missing something?
greekguy7
Hmmmm....... I thought the spec for the "Multec" injectors in our cars was 12.1 ohms I must have measured 18 injectors at the junkyard plus the 6 on my car and never saw one over 13ohms on these cars. tdaye
hmmmmmmm, another website says 'Electrically there are two[2] classifications of injectors. High impedance [12 - 16 ohms] and low impedance injectors [2 - 4 ohms]. The impedance can be determined by measuring the resistance of the coil in the injector. i.e. The resistance between the two electrical pins can be measured with a ohm meter" "stock injector’s impedance is 16 ohms. [A high impedance injector.] "
greekguy7
Is this for our type cars? I measured about 24 of these injectors in the past few weeks and havent found one over 13ohms. All 6 of mine that I have in my car now are in the 12.x =ohm range and the car runs perfect now.
tdaye
The only ones I could fine around 12ohms were for BMW's, Jag's or were specialty injectors. if this info I was getting was wrong it means only ONE of mine are good which doesn't make sence either because my car runs great except for a miss at idle when warm. Dark Ride
I've measured quite a few injectors for our cars and have never seen one over 13 ohms. I've seen them as low as 8 however . I've heard that the newer style injectors don't read the same as the older style ones, maybe some of yours were replaced Mitch
tdaye
I guess thats possible, but doesn't explane why all the websites I look at don't ever mention them, it would also mean that i would have to replace them all.
tdaye
hmmmmmmmmmmm I went to a garage around my work that does some of my major work and had them test 2 injectors I had tested at home the one that read 15.9ohm read 12.5 and the one that read 12.3 read 9.4! so YOU were right! hahaha guess my digital tester is a POS. doesn explane why everywhere on the net I looked told me that it should be 12-16ohms
greekguy7
12-16ohms is more of a generic range for "High impedance type" injectors, not really the spec for the multec injectors. I was told by an injector rebuilding site expert that anything under 12 is junk. I has one at 9.5, a second at 9.4 and a third at 11.1 or so. They caused all sorts of issues with my car. Replaced those 3 and she runs like a dream now!
ron350
Check and see what Ed charges for a good used set of injectors. http://www.moradpartscompany.com/ This may not help but the injectors in my 96 Regal with a 3800 II all measure 12 OHMS. Things like coils, injectors, plug wires and TPS should be measured when you first buy the car and it is running good. Maybe the next car I buy I can remember to do that. greekguy7
Good prices for reconditioned injectors with a warranty. http://www.lindertech.com/reconinj.htm I always see used ones on ebay for a fair price too... or the junkyard too. Autozone, Advance, Murrays, NAPA, etc. all have them but you are talking quite a bit of cash for a set of 6.
97CuttySupSL
yea well im thinkin its the injectors..its only runnin on 5 cylinders as how it sounds...its burning reaaaal rich...so maybe it could be a spark plug not firing??? ToroToro
Yeah most likely. Check to make sure all the plug wire boots are slid all the way over. If you have a spare coil, it would be a good idea to run through all of them to see if you got a bad one. I had a coil go last week, so it does happen. Luckily I had tools and my spare coil in the trunk so I could fix it in Wal-Mart's parking lot.
