LukeZ34
Ok, for those who don't know, our 1991 GTP has a 1996 3.4 DOHC motor, but is running the original 91 intake setup. On the 1991 intakes, does one NEED to keep the coolant line that feeds coolant in to the upper intake (under the throttle body)? Where does the coolant exit at? It's been so long since I even looked at a DOHC, and I never really worked on them when I owned them, so I'm a little hesitant to start pulling coolant lines before finding out what they supply. Thanks for any help. BTW, for those who are wondering, yes, I do plan to upgrade to the 96+ intake setup sometime in the future. But for the time being, the car runs great, and has some damn good get-up-and-go to it!
slick
No, that should just be the heated TB line. Suprisingly, it has actually been a while since I have been under the hood of a 3.4 dohc car, so I don't have the image in my head at the moment. Tony(5speedz34) hopefully will chime in. He lives under these damn cars hoods.
LukeZ34
Yea, I'll have to get some pictures if it would help. The PO used a rubber hose from the water pump over to the fitting on the TB, instead of the factory steel line. The rubber hose looks sloppy, and is rubbing on certain parts of the exhaust system that I fear may cause more problems later on down the road. 5speedz34
Yeah, that line runs into the TB, and then a line comes out of the TB and goes to the heater core. In the second image, you can see the line that connects to the TB and then runs over the brake booster with a bleeder on it. So the previous owner put a rubber hose there? That's wierd. FWIW: I would swap 96 intakes in and get the right metal pipe. 96 intakes on the 5speed cars really wake them up. Also I would bypass the TB just because it makes it easier to get on and off. slick
Also I would bypass the TB just because it makes it easier to get on and off. I wish I would have bypassed mine. That stupid line was always a PITA to undo when taking off the upper intake, and always made it more fun to have to align another thing when placing the plenum back on. Any updates Luke?
