GM will only produce a certian car/truck line for so many years. After that the line is either cut or re-designed if you will. ( true for all companies ) At the time of 97-99 Oldsmobile and Buick where really starting to get at each other, and GM probably knew it was going to have to cut one of the lines. But after the '97 production year, Oldsmobile really didnt have too many new models. They did have a '98 cutlass, but that was totally different. Not even the same platform.

they actually made a "cutlass supreme" from 98-02...it was a re-badged Malibu

I find it weird that they even MADE a 1997 CS, cause wasn't it a first gen still???

When my coworker said she got a '99 Cutlass, I thought, "Sweet! A W-body!" Then we get out there and the thing is just tiny!

1988 - 1997 Cutlass Supreme, w-body, replaced by Intrigue in 1998.

1998+ Cutlass, n-body.
