IBuiltMine-o1oo
What computer can i use for a turbo 2002 3400 in my 97 Cutalss? Ive got the engine out of a Montana, and a t3/to4 turbo. i am making my own manifolds. I want the computer to run flawless at 12 to 15lbs boost, and i want to run an automatic. Is this even possible? Thanks! SEAN!
Euro
are you building the motor yourself? or did you buy it from someone go over to mymonte, and PM either Manitcor or Germ. i believe Germ has a turbo 3400
IBuiltMine-o1oo
well, i am having an engine builder build the bottom and top end to my specs, im not actually doing the engine build, but everything else i will do. Thanks for the info. Once i sort out the engine tranny management i will have it all ready! do you have a link to my monte?

19Cutlass94
Make sure you get some heavy duty parts in that tranny. Or else that 4t60-E is gonna be in peices on the ground the first time you step on the gas
IBuiltMine-o1oo
Yeah! Ive been researching this for a while.... I finally got a new Truck, and i can now retire the Olds to the cherrypicker and start tearing into it! I hope i can find a computer that will controll my engine and tranny the way i want to! THe_DeTAiL3R
So yer running a 4T60-e? I'd upgrade to a 4T65e-(HD) and get the computer totally reprogrammed... Maybe DHP or cartuning could do it.. but ya check out mymonte first if someone else has done it already
IBuiltMine-o1oo
Yeah im still in Gillette, but im out at Black Thunder now, not Cummins! Im a mechanic out there... Im not looking to go too over the top here guys...im looking for a reliable car. even a few lbs of boost is going to be good enough, as long as i can get somewhere in the range of TurboSedan's Gas Milege id be happy!! Id like a tried and true system using the Mass air flow, and the automatic. One of the resons i havent dove head first in this is the tranny.....i might consider a 3.8 sc swap, but i still want the turbo... I wish i would have done more research on how expensive it was to beef up my tranny compared to a 3.8 tranny! I wouldnt have bought the 3400 i did! Oh well, i can trade it to the junkyard for a 3.8 if it comes down to it.... whats the benifits of the 3.8 over the 3400?
Guest TurboSedan
i'm basically doing the same thing Sean. i just picked up a '00 3400 from the j/y. it needs to be rebuilt though. it might be awhile before i can send it to the machine shop since i'm still saving $$$ for 9:1 forged Wiseco's. i currently have my Turbo STE all torn apart. i already pulled the Turbo 3.1/4T60HD out and it's sitting in my garage. i'll probably use that engine in my Cutlass when the current one finally goes. i'm also getting the car ready for the 5-speed swap; already have an extra Getrag 282 sitting in my garage. just got the brake/clutch pedals installed last week. the main thing i'm worried about right now is custom exhaust manifolds and crossover pipe for the 3400. i'm still not sure what i'm going to do there. i'll be using my Turbo STE's original engine wiring harness and ECM, running modified TGP code...so it won't be SFI anymore. i still have alot of things to figure out...injectors, turbo, etc. no way am i going to run the small TGP Garrett T25 on a 3400. if you do decide to go with an L67 instead let me know before you get rid of the 3400. if it runs good i'd definately be interested in it. slick
Your Cutlass is a '97, which means you have OBD-II. Pick up the DHP Powertuner and go nuts.
