NOHC_WBody
On takeoff, it stays in first gear until 3500 RPM, Shifts firmly into second gear, and will not shift to third gear until it is taken to redline. It will not shift out of second gear until then. When it engages third gear it still feels like the torque converter isn't locked up, because it seems to flash the converter to about 1800-2100 RPM. After a few miles in third ger, it'll shift into 4th on the highway. I thought, immediately, "reaction drum/drive assembly", but it's not doing the same as my GTP when it's RD died. The GTP wouldn't shift out of first gear when it's RD died. Any opinions?
Robby1870
The not shifting to 4th gear until its warmed up is normal. And, the same with the TC in 3rd gear. On my 3.1L, the tranny will not utilize the TC in 3rd gear until the engine temp has reached about 115-120*. Now, the staying in 1st gear til 3500 sounds like a 1st gear switch or solenoid, sticking. Try this. There is a plug on the front of the trans, that can be seen under the airbox. Its got 5 wires going into it. Unplug it. Then drive the car and see what happens. With this plug unplugged you WILL NOT have TC lockup. That plug controls 1st gear switch and solenoid, 4th gear switch and solenoid and TCC lockup. Do that, and if your problem goes away, either the 1st gear switch or soleniod is prolly shot. But, first, I would check and change the tranny fluid if you havent done that in a while Robby
NOHC_WBody
Tranny fluid's still good, changed about 10K ago. I unplugged it, and it was no different. I checked the vaccum modulator, and it was clean(no fluid). [EDIT] I tried manually shifting it, at various throttle loads, light-1/2-3/4-WOT, and it shifts firm, and at the proper RPMs, but still does the same thing when left to it's own in the OD detent on the shifter. Robby1870
Well......Im stumped. I guess take it to a trans shop and see what they think. I hate to say that, but I really dont know. Robby
NOHC_WBody
OK. I overlooked the painfully obvious. I checked the weather pak 5 prong connector on the front of the tranny below the airbox. There was two pins missing. I didn't even look at them before. I replaced the connector, with one from a boneyard. ONE DOLLAR. FIXED!!!!!!!!!
Robby1870
Those two pins were prolly, the 1st and 4th gear swithes. How did two of the pins fall out? Thats wierd. Well, glad you got it working and that I helped out......sort of Robby
NOHC_WBody
I have no earthly idea. One of the pins was completely broken off, all the way back into the connector, and the other one was mashed flat. Anyhowsit, it was your idea to disconnect the connector that helped Thanks Rob, if ya need anything, ANYTHING at all, from these w-bodies I've been pulling parts off of, let me know, d00d. Robby1870
Actually, how many 91-93 GPs have you seen? Im kinda curious as to how much the front bucket seats and center console would go for. Prefferably the light grey color. Im just curious as to prices. Thanks for any help Robby
NOHC_WBody
I can probably get them uber cheap. I've been buying parts off this yard for years now. I know there's a couple of the early GP's there, I'll have to go check them out to see what kind of condition they're in.

Robby1870
Oh man, I want the quad buckets so bad, it kills me to get in the car and look at the bench seat Robby
NOHC_WBody
I love my Qbuckets. I didn't think I would at first, but they grew on me. They look a lot sportier than the benches.
