97loudcut
I thought it was something to do with my brakes but now I am leading to a bad lower engine mount. At random times (sharp turns at slow speed, going from reverse to forward while turning, and othe random times) a wierd sound comes from the front of the car. Almost a popping or a person cracking there knuckles but amplified and deeper. Is this a shot lower engine mount and what am i looking at to fix it. 5speedz34
Umm, well I would first check your cradle mounts. Make sure they are torqued to the right specs(IIRC 100 ft-lbs, but don't quote me on that). Second I would check the rack to cradle bolts, since those have the tendency to do the same thing. If it is the engine mount, you have to jack or hoist the engine up, unbolt the mount and remove it, and then replace it with a new one. Chances are your car has two lower mounts, and one trans mount. I would replace them all.
19Cutlass94
If were talking about the same noise, my lower mount did that, but only when going from like park to reverse, or to drive bacially just changing the gears it made that noise. Had it replaced and no more noise. I believe his car only has two mounts ( aside from dogbones ) the tranny mount and lower engine mount. The DOHC had three lower mounts, the 3100 only has two. blkinternational
my car was making the same noise i had a lower mount replaced and it didnt do shit but now the engine doesnt move as much, so im guess ing cradle mounts are whats bad. because the noise is gettin worse. but its only when it gets wet or somthing its weird.. 19Cutlass94
Craddle bolts should be 103 ft-lbs.
