ihateallmustangs
Finally! this car gives me a problem after a trouble free 280k! (aside from a power steering hose), Anyways there is a pipe that runs from the motor down by the bottom of the tire. Looks as though its for the heater core. Can I just block this off for now? since its summer it will by me sometime. thanks
5speedz34
You could block it off, but I would just replace it with heater hose...
White93z34
it will be far easier to just trace that line back to the water pump pull it, cut the hose where it isan't totally rusty anymore and replace it all with 5/8s heater hose. jdcutty
Yup, replace it with rubber hose, cause that is a dealership only part and they charge like 80 bucks just for the hose.
CPSMonteZ34
Oooo! Oooo! *stands on the desk and waves his hand in the air. I know this one! ... ... ... Yeah, they're all right. And replacing that metal coolant pipe would be far more a hassle than it's worth. Heater hose, two pipe clamps, cut it off, slip it on, screw her tight, ---this is beginning to sound dirty---, and she's all done.

Guest TurboSedan
yeah that pipe rusted out on both of my cars. i went to the dealership and got a new pipe. it was around $50. i just don't like the thought of having a long ass heater hose running around the engine.
