IBuiltMine-o1oo Posted May 31, 2006 Report Posted May 31, 2006 SS M90 dyno'd 253/300+ WHP/WTQ ... Add a I/C (another 30 or so HP) and you got yourself almost a 280whp motor pushing somewhere in the area of 370 in wtq ... and a reliable vehicle ... I found my motor for pretty cheap and this is my plan ... either or i am pleased with the choice i made ... so thats almost exactly what im looking for! Pretty good horsepower in a relable car. it going to be my daily driver. Quote
jdcutty Posted June 1, 2006 Report Posted June 1, 2006 I don't know about the rest of you guys, but in every l36/l67 car I have ridden in, it just doesn't seem to pull hard. Yeah, they were pretty fast(the l67 car was a mid 13 car), but it didn't have that "throw you back in your seat" pull. You rode in mine at the meet didn't you? If not then I guess your statement remains true. Nope, but I sure would like to though sometime. Then again, yours is a 5 speed, which is a whole different story. Good point. Quote
dbtk2 Posted June 1, 2006 Report Posted June 1, 2006 if a world is 40hp then yes. But the L67 has many aftermarket mods, i guess the l36 does also, but that is a turbo kit. 3800 n/a or s/c would be nice in a W either way a SS M90 kit and an intercooler will do just as good if not be faster then a L67 ... and still be just as reliable! SS M90 dyno'd 253/300+ WHP/WTQ ... Add a I/C (another 30 or so HP) and you got yourself almost a 280whp motor pushing somewhere in the area of 370 in wtq ... and a reliable vehicle ... I found my motor for pretty cheap and this is my plan ... either or i am pleased with the choice i made ... so First thing you want to keep in mind is that those power levels out of that SS M90 car are higher than usual and aren't really the norm. Most people with a virtually stock L36 should see power levels in the 230whp range. That car runs very well for the mods. That is definately a very nice setup, but it wouldn't be just as reliable as an L67/4t65e-hd. It would be close, but the trans in the L36 cars is weaker (weaker diff), and with those kind of power levels it wouldn't exactly be reliable. Even the 4t65e-hd wouldn't be horribly reliable at those power levels. It would be fine for a daily driver, but you would have to be careful with it. You'd definately want to steer away from any high mileage trannies for this build. FWIW, I plan on doing an L67 topend swap on my L36 and I don't see where I would run into any problems with it. I'm shooting for power levels somewhere in the 260-280whp range, if it makes that I will be happy with it, afterall that would be a 80-100whp gain over what it made this spring. That is plenty of power for a daily driver IMO especially on a stock 4t65e. If you plan on building the engine for much more power than that, I'd probably make sure I had money set aside for a trans as well. Just my $.02 though. Quote
