Rabbi Posted May 23, 2006 Report Posted May 23, 2006 ok i got my head gasket installed, Head back on. Now how the hell do i keep the lifters held in place while installing the cam carrior onto the head? They fall out obviously. Some sort of special tool or assembly grease i need? Quote
jimmy91444 Posted May 23, 2006 Report Posted May 23, 2006 in the book( haynes) they show how to do it : you are going to need for the exaust side 3/16 inch hose and the intake side 5/32 inch hose. You cut them in pieces of about 3-4 inch long, and squeese them betwenn the lifter under the cam kinde hard to do, but once in there they will hold your lifters in place when you turn it over. have fun. Vegeta Posted May 23, 2006 Report Posted May 23, 2006 I use moly grease after I wipe all the oil out of the bores and off the lifters. It gives you time to flip the carriers over on top of the heads. Quote
patgizz Posted May 23, 2006 Report Posted May 23, 2006 vaseline, engine assembly lube(the red permatex stuff is so gooey it'd have to work). Quote
