Crank Sensor DOHC

Sometimes my car will just crank and not start and it pisses the fuck out of me. So, the GM mechanic told me it could be the crank sensor, he has a 3.4 DOHC and had the same problem. My question is where is the son of a bitch located, I can afford the part but not the labour to put it on, I need to have my timing belt changed, now this, it's almost too much for me.....

if you would look in the FAQ section there is a huge thread all about crank sensors, and i believe i added alot about the LQ1 crank sensor to that thread if i remember correctly. :thumb:

your 92 or 96?

on the 92 there's one on the back of the block toward the firewall, above tranny and below exhaust manifold. on the 96 there's that one as well as a sensor located on the timing cover next to/behind the harmonic balancer.

If your car is throwing the code/or not starting. That is the only time I would replace a crank sensor.

It isn't throwing a code at all this is my 96' BTW. It just randomly sometimes cranks for 10-15 seconds before it starts. Not only that but I need my belt changed and my fucking brakes or something to do with tie-rods are fucked too. I am ready to beat the shit out of it.

i don't want to hear it, i've dumped no less then $700 or so into JUST my suspension recently, and it still needs some tweaking. its a 10 year old car now, things are bound to need replaced.

and FWIW weren't you just saying how your timing belt looked brand new not more then a month or so ago?
