1BadPrix Posted May 14, 2006 Report Posted May 14, 2006 Back when i had my old sedan i saw a kit out for the 3100. It was just ridiculouis for the price. Now i have my GTP and have been looking into getting a 94-96 Sedan. I was talking to a friend who is helping me xp my gtp. He is throwing a eaton m62 on his car just for the hell of it. Its not a w. Thats when i got the thinking. I should try to supercharge a 3100 and do something different. I am looking into getting a m62 (m90 just to harsh for the engine/tranny). It will run a 3.8 pulley instead of i think a 2 something inch pulley. I am looking into fabbing a design for supercharger to fit on the lower intake. My friend is going to help me. What does anyone think of this. What kinda gains do you think i may see before i break/destroy something. Just want some feedback. Will Quote
fastbird232 Posted May 14, 2006 Report Posted May 14, 2006 Are you going to beef up the 3100 internals? Quote
sl3196 Posted May 14, 2006 Report Posted May 14, 2006 Bad idea imo. Turbo FTW! Although the pos 4T60 wont like it hehe. Quote
1BadPrix Posted May 14, 2006 Author Report Posted May 14, 2006 Nope not going to beef up the internals. We are just doing it to see what we can gain from it. 3100s are pretty cheap and my friend is great at motor swapping so we are just like doing a test bed. William Quote
Guest TurboSedan Posted May 14, 2006 Report Posted May 14, 2006 wow, someone on W-body wants to get power out of a 3x00! hardly anyone here tries to do anything serious with these engines. i'd worry about the transmission before anything internal in the engine. as far as the engine goes it sounds like the pistons are the one thing you should worry about but stock may work fine depending on your goals. there is a guy on the v6z24.com forum that got 328whp/352 wtq with a stock 3400 using a remote mount T3/T04E hybid @10psi, no intercooler and alcohol injection. however, he had two pistons let go on him. it looked like the piston pin got ripped right out. i don't think it was a detonation issue; i think all of that power was enough to break the piston skirt away. the same guy setup a group buy with Wiseco for forged 9:1 pistons. they are expensive but considering my goal of 350whp it's a must have. i wouldn't even try using a supercharger. it would probably be harder to make it work and a turbo would be much more efficient anyway. 1BadPrix Posted May 16, 2006 Author Report Posted May 16, 2006 Yeah i just want to try something different. The reason i want to try it is because the 3100 is in abudance and no one cares for it. Also another reason i want to do a supercharger is because i love the whine. I am looking into making a adapter for the m62 to sit in place of the 3100 intake plenum. Im not looking for a 11 second drag monster just something unique something not anyone has tried or done. It could only pull low 15's but it will be set up to be unique and custom. So does anyone think it would be worth it to try something different. Just want opinions. Also this is going on a 94-96 Sedan. I miss my sedan. William Quote
jeremy Posted May 16, 2006 Report Posted May 16, 2006 I will agree with the others about preferring the turbo. But be sure to take lots of pictures when you do this S/C project....best of luck to you Quote
