Sad day...

Well, I just got the TGP back from the shop that installed/made the x-over. And aparently some time thru the last 3 hail storms the thing got beat to shit while it was at the shop. I have it insured for the 9600 that NADA puts it at luckily, now lets see if they are going to total it, or, rebuild it...

I have had it for 4 days, but didnt bother to wash it till sunday, and thats when i noticed the damage. And it is extensive, There are ripples in the body on the roof, the black stips going down the door look like someone took a hammer to them. The rear and front top quaters look the same. I cant see any damage on the hood, but it doesnt have its clear coat, so I cant tell much on it. I am bummed after spending all the time and money I have in this car...

Just got off the phone with the insurance company and all they could do is tell me my deductable is 100 bucks and someone will be calling me later..

damn dude sorry to hear that!!! is it from the storm or vandalism? kinda sounds like both

Nope, its all hail, thankfully. Cause then it falls under the "act of god" thing on insurance, and not the vandilism..

An "Act of God" and vandalism all fall under the same coverage.....Comprehensive. Don't worry if they call it either. The fact is you have coverage for damage to your auto not involved in a collision. Comprehensive pays and in most States a Comprehensive loss isn't a chargable loss, meaning you're rates should not go up due to this loss unless you have other violations and or losses that could factor in to your 3 year or 5 year driving history.

The only thing that has happened in the last five years is my Expedition got vandalized at the Ford Dealer. About 4500 in damage there. And back in 02 or 03 my 6000 got totalled out from hail damage as well.. My rates never went up.. My 6000 I bought back and they only allow me to put liability on it.

Now this really sucks...

Insurance company states that because the car is classified as a "collectors car", that the definitions for apraisel change considerably. So my "average" TGP, by there standards, is now considered "low". So that drops the NADA pricing on it from 6000 to 3000. And because the damage is rated at 2960 in hail damage, they have to total it out. But wait, it gets worse..

If I take their damage assesment on it, and because my state just passed a law back in 2005 about this, it brands my title for the car as salvage. Well that just screws the car forever because carfax, and other title reporting services, dont diferentiate inbetween Hail damage, and physical wrecked car style damage.

So my insurance company has asked me to take it to a couple diferent apraisers to see if I can get a 'Pre-hail' apraisel. Yea this should go over really well. All I need to do is get the value up to 4000 and they will repair it. 1000 freaking dollars. I just put 1500 into at the shop when it was getting the hail damage (new struts, tires, brakes, x-over), doesnt that count for anything? Nope.. MOTHER F*&^%R BBQ!!!!!!!NEON TITS!!!
