CutlassSL91
Ok I got these cheap Soundmaster mufflers from nap. they are fairly quiet, but sound liek they have a hole in them, (just from being cheap i am assuming). They have a very annoying deep drone while stopped in drive, and are rather raspy from the outside. My question is, if i got a resonator from a later model W-car, would that silence the annoying idle drone and rasp?
19Cutlass94
A resonator would help out. Thats basically what there designed to do, quiet down the cars exhaust.
CutlassSL91
do they really have much of an effect though, i mean they seem like such a simple peice of equipment
J
do they really have much of an effect though, i mean they seem like such a simple peice of equipment so do air filters, but they are very important when working in a system of parts. If that makes any sense!! Yes resonators will help, if you want to smooth it out and quiet it down, get the biggest one u can fit.
CutlassSL91
so what type of vehicle could i find a really big one on? I am thinking a truck or something?
19Cutlass94
SRT-4s have a good sized resonator. You can just put two of them inline. theres more than enough room, since I dont think the one from an SRT4 will fit.
White93z34
instead of helping the bad muffler. why not get one thats good to begin with.
jeremy
instead of helping the bad muffler. why not get one thats good to begin with. you read my mind.....I was going to suggest buying a quality muffler instead of the putting a "band-aid" on the problem
ToroToro
Ya really. Two resonators is insane, and would probobly cost as much as one good muffler.
firefighter_0029
I put a Thrush Turbo on the beater. It sounds pretty good and they cost about $18. Same size in and out too so It won't kill the power.
CutlassSL91
well i baught the cheap mufflers because they were $30 a piece for the these walrer tru fit equivalets vs the next lowest price which was $84 a peice!!!! These mufflers are not bad, but at just certain rpm's there is a deep nasty drone so i guess i will try the resonator ideas
