lakefxgp96
Right now im thinking i will be putting on slightly shorter tires, increase the offselt to about +0 on my 7" rims and lowering the car with 4 coilovers by as much as 3 inches. I want to slam the car as much as possible without any handling sacrifice and give it an f-body like stance. i think i may barrow from the 05 GXP idea and put a wider tire up front and skinner tire in back. i do have one question though...i have no idea how tire sizes work... i have 255-55-R17's. how do a i go a size shorter from that? and then also both shorter AND wider? Rim is 17x7 +40 Im looking into joining a local SCCA chapter as well, and upon investigating their general rules, other than stock classes, there is nothing against the idea of wheel spacers and the rules permit them. Im going to get custom made 1.5" (~40mm) hub centric spacers....they cost a fortune but they weigh almost nothing and the stance is going to be quite impressive! I would get custom rims, but im in love with the ones i have and will not be replacing them other suspension mods i have are poly bushings, FSTB (ZZP custom brackets) AWEB RSTB and addoco bar about to go in. Im also planning to get the entire BMR kit. And yes im well aware that this will cost roughly $2000. but who could resist a FWD with OVERsteer and enough power to hang with some of the best of sports cars around? pic of the car if you curious how it looks right now. 56k unsafe. http://www.migpc.com/images/tempmkg/hi-res1.jpg
mfewtrail
i do have one question though...i have no idea how tire sizes work... i have 255-55-R17's. how do a i go a size shorter from that? and then also both shorter AND wider? Rim is 17x7 +40 Michael the tire size you listed would breakdown like this. The first set of numbers is the tire width(measured in mm), the second number is the sidewall's aspect ratio(55 in this case. This means that the sidewall height measured from the rim to the tread is 55% of the width of the tire). I'm sure you know the last number represents the wheel diameter the tire is meant for. FWIW, your tire size now is supposedly yielding a 28'' diameter. If you changed to a 265/50/17(wider & shorter like you mentioned) for example, you would drop the diameter down to 27.4''. You're probably going to want to find a chart or something to go by when selecting another size tire for your wheel width to make sure it's within the "safe" limit to run on a 7'' wheel width. lakefxgp96
You know what..i was apparenty tired when i did that, they are 225x55 R17 not 255. Yeah the R17 part is easy! lol. fewtrail, thats probably the best explaination i've ever heard, lol. So im thinking something like 235x45 R17 in the front, and 225x50 R17 in the rear?? That will give me a 9.25" wide tire with a 25.3" hieght in front....and an 8.5" wide tire with a 25.50" height in the back. So im within .2" on height and I have approx 3/4" wider tire up front than the rear, which is what im told is plenty to induce some oversteer on FWD and it should improve traction over my 225's i would guess. I would also be going from a 26.7" tire height to an aprox hieght of 25.5, which would be slightly more than .6" of my ride height and allow about another .5" of drop. Im not sure what the normal tire sizes are anymore, but the ones i have seem slightly taller than stock? what is stock height? Thanks for your help. jeremy
wider tires in the front? I understand it for functionality purposes, but I can't imagine that it will be too visually appealing
AWeb80
It looks sweet on the GXP's.

lakefxgp96
And it looks like you can drop that car a good 4 inches! lol

Your car probably came with 225/60/16's on it, they are right at 26.6'' in diameter.
